New Musical Accessories On Her Birthday

My daughter just had her 18th birthday celebration last Saturday and we’re happy that it went so smooth, very relaxing and everyone were happy. It’s also a holiday, Chinese New Year, so we never had a hard time with the schedule of Gen’s classmate. Well not everyone made it to the reception because of some circumstances but Gen was happy enough to think of those who were not around. 

We had some problems with the sounds hours before the event and the connector from laptop to speaker but before the celebration started everything was solved and went well. My daughter was every particular with the sound system being a musician herself and it’s a big plus to every occasion if sounds are clear and good. 

Well I also noticed that she really got excited with one gift which she didn’t guessed at first. Her close friend Kez gave her a pair of drum sticks which she really wanted to buy when she was introduced to playing drums on their Industrial Engineering week. She only borrowed then so it’s really a welcome gift to have her first drum sticks. She was really excited just the same as when she learned that there’s a guitar center weekend sale coming up. She also wanted a new guitar so we’re looking and searching for affordable ones. Next time maybe we can buy her wish instrument.

Growing Up with New Hobbies

Josh is now on his freshman year in high school and I’m glad he’s grown up to be smart, nice and cool. He has a relaxed attitude over things which make me smile most of the times. At times I’m worried that he’s so relaxed for comfort that it will affect his competitiveness. Well Moms tend to worry too much I know but he’s my youngest and since my two girls are in college and most of the times they’re not in the house my focus is on Josh. My soon-to-be teenage boy is charmer too and he’s winning all of our attention in the house with his funny jokes, techie wizard info and sweet actions. 

Now he’s giving his attention on playing musical instruments which he really loves especially his keyboards.  He also has his flair on browsing music sites. When he told me about radial engineering at guitarcenter.com I’m amazed at how he can spare some of his busy hours to look at those things. He can easily understand things and equipment beyond his very young age and he tells me all about it when I go home from work. I wonder what he should be taking up when he finished high school. He has many things he wants to explore and maybe when he reaches the right age he’ll be able to choose which path of career he should take.

Preferring Musical Hobbies than Online Games

With all the online activities of the youth these days it’s a refreshing sight to see some who choose to play musical instruments in their free time. Since online games and social sites became rampant not only in malls but in homes as well parents should be vigilant in monitoring their kids’ activities. It’s not healthy to let our kids develop a hobby that relies on the web so it’s best to encourage them to play the usual games we do when we were kids, playing on the street is good also if the place is safe or in the park. If it’s not safe outdoor kids can play board games in the convenience of our homes or learn to play music with whatever instruments they want to play with. 

My kids started with summer music school learning only the basic then as years passed by they learned to practice by them and honed their skills progressively. Now they’re often browsing on online music store for nice instruments and accessories like tascam interface where they get some inspirations. They’re also saving for some of their wished accessories with my help of course. It’s nice to see kids with flair for music and other recreational things than spending all their time on the net.

Work, Talents and Hobbies

We’ve already started our new project first week of the month and even though it’s only starting we’re already busy. My hands are full now with my two soon to finish projects, one other project and the new one. Sometimes I get some headache on those because I have to answer and solve the requirements of our clients even though it’s not my job and my field of expertise. If there’s one thing that I learned through my 3 years of coming back to my old company it’s learning everything I can to do what can’t be done by busy engineers. I studied engineering myself but I’m not into civil. I’m more well-versed in computers and telecommunications but now I learned to do highway design and many other reports. Well that’s a plus I may say but still it’s hard sometimes. 

Maybe that’s the real picture of life- you study one thing but you work on another thing and you master on some other things. I remember my father when I was young and I was amazed at how he can be a very good administrator, municipal secretary, speech writer of the town’s Mayor, contract expert, outstanding tailor, creative carpenter and a music enthusiast also. He finished a Law degree and he’s a very good businessman. He’s a jack of all trade and as I grow older I’m getting some of his ‘trade’ skills and talents as per my Mom’s observation. 

Anyway as to his being a music enthusiast he didn’t enrolled in any music school. He just bought instruments like a grand piano in his younger days and learned to play on his own. He would also love to learn woodwind & brasswind instruments at that time but he has a job in public service and a business to spend his time. Well if he’s still living now he would be happy and proud that his grandkids have flair and talents in playing musical instruments. He would love listening how Gen plays the piano and guitar. Music runs strong in our blood and my kids are lucky that they inherit the talents. Hope they can use it in playing musical instruments in our church soon.

Finding Time to Play Guitar After School Ends

My dear daughter Gen is busy with her finals that she always sleeps late at night and can’t attend to her personal things at times. She also misses her guitar practice because she can’t find the time to even strum a few chords. Well she promised herself that she’ll give quality time to her musical instruments once she gets all her grades this semester. Engineering courses are really tough to study and I know what she’s going through having walked the same path decades ago when I took Computer Engineering. 

It will only be less than two weeks and she can focus on practicing some of her songs using her guitar and the vintage guitar picks she loves dearly. I’m also looking forward to hear when she plays my favorite pieces as sometimes I sing when she strums. It’s not only relaxing but a sweet bonding for the whole family.

My Special Kid

I was talking to my youngest kid the other day and we were thinking of what he might be taking up when he reached college. As of now he’s very amazed at computer codes and html things and thinking of taking up Electronics Communications Engineering or a course that pertains to website graphics. At his age he’s a bit advanced when it comes to computer and at times I’m telling him to slow down a bit and focus on his academics. I’m a little apprehensive at his divided attention between his current subjects and the things that excites his mind. 

I was just happy that besides all those things he still maintains his penchant for playing keyboards and keeps up with practicing his musical pieces. He even looked at Yamaha Pro Audio and asked me about it. He’s going to buy his own musical instruments from his savings so he’s thinking carefully what he’s going to buy; after all it’s his own earned money. Josh is really a special one, a computer techie, an artist and a musician as well. Great thing about him is that he’s still very sweet and caring son. Lucky me.

Learning and Playing Musical Instruments

Last year we planned to enroll Josh in violin playing class but due to some reasons he chose to enroll in keyboard class. One of our reasons was our need to train a child to play keyboard in our church as no one has the eagerness and penchant for keyboards. Almost all wanted to play either guitar or drums and as keyboard is very important in worship songs we encourage our son in his love for playing keyboard instrument. He also wanted to learn violin but the instrument he meant to use was sold mistakenly, it was intended to be given to Josh but apparently there’s a miscommunication. 

Anyway Josh is very young and he can still learn it if he wants. I heard one of his classmate whispered to one of their mentor on what makes a good violin and overhearing it I made some research so when the time comes that my son will start the violin school I know what to choose for a good sounding quality violin.

Little Things that Makes Us Enjoy Work

There are things that make us happy in whatever field or career we take and in my own experience we should not spend all of our time on our job for us to enjoy it. I have worked so diligently and few years back I even spent 24 hours or more just to finish proposals. I also spent more than 20 hours online on my writing job and though I enjoyed every bit of my writing job I know in my heart that a person should have limits in working. It’s the free time away from working area that gives a breather and space to realize that it should not be all work as we also have to play. 

Now that I only spent one to two hours a day on my online work and only 8 hours on my office work I get to enjoy my work more because I have more focus and get to know many things. I enjoy my work because I look forward to the thought that at the end of the day I will see my kids, my husband and my whole family and enjoy the rest of the day with them. If I can help it I don’t spend more than the regular hours of work so I’ll still be early to cook for my family and listen to their day experiences. 

When I still have some extra time for myself I browse the net and search for some of my favorite musical instruments and accessories at musiciansfriend.com where I and my kids bond because we both love seeing the latest instruments on the net. Deciding on Special Music Class

Since my two girls are already in their college I know what they want to be when they finished schooling as they both chosen career path for themselves. Now for my big boy who is turning 12 in September I know that he’s not yet sure on what career he wants for himself. Sometimes he would ask me what I want for him and few times he will tell me that he’s starting to realize what he really want to be. In his young mind he is full of hopes, goals and dreams and for now I just encourage him on whatever he may want to achieve. 

One of his wishes is to be very good in playing various musical instruments and I inspire him to learn more. This morning as his school passed us the form for enrolling clubs and special music class we’re thinking carefully if he’ll take keyboard class or enroll in guitar lessons. If he’ll be taking up guitar class I’ll look for a new guitar for him like the one I saw online with nice accessories. I saw they even have guitar shielding for guitar’s pickguard. Well Josh is very well versed in browsing online sites especially when it comes to musical instruments and techie sites. I’ll let him decide his special class tonight.

Dreams, Career and Music

Now that my two daughters are on their way to fulfilling their dreams and working their way into their desired careers I’m always by their side to support whenever they need my help. Of course their Dad is also hands-on on assisting them on their projects and providing whatever materials they need. Aside from academics we also try to give them training on learning to play various musical instruments which they love to do. 

All three of them have one or two instruments they love to study. Gen has the most number of musical instruments tried and we found her so gifted with playing. She has no professional studies on music but she plays skillfully with grace and passion. I guess it’s because of genes as my grandfather plays alpha and other string instruments so well. 

We love seeing them offer song in our church with Ruth and Josh singing while Gen playing keyboards or guitar. In the following months I know that Josh can play keyboards as good as her elder sister as he’s so keen on mastering his music craft. They’re so fond of instruments and accessories that I saw them browsing through digitech jamman last weekend. Gen told me that she’ll collect more when she has the money to buy her favorites.

Gifts, Skills and Practice

Kids have their own inclination to various aspects of life, sports, hobbies and learning. Some have amazing gifts that comes to them naturally whether they study or not. Others have it in their genes but most makes it through enthusiasm, thorough study and perseverance. Well when it comes to music it takes more than just genes and gifts as you have to refine your skills through study and practice. I’m sure ernie isley would say the same thing if he will be interviewed by reporters and he’ll advise to practice hard with good discipline. Success in playing musical instruments will follow then.

Prioritizing Plans for our Church Place

As one of our plans this year is to maximize our finances for all our expenses we also applies it to our church when the idea of replacing the old drum set was discussed. The new set is so expensive so we suggested that we look for replacement drum parts instead of buying the whole set. There are things to prioritize and we plan to list our most needed projects and needs. 

We also have to save finances to look for a lot for lease for our church because we’re moving out in few months. We’re considering new ideas on buying a lot or having a lease instead of renting a space on expensive buildings. Hope we’ll be able to settle for something stable as it’s tasking to move places and location.

Some Things that Keeps Me Away from Work

My work fills most of my time away from my home and family so when I want to do something other than my office routines I do it on break time. If all of my office mates were either doing online browsing or resting I spend my time doing my online writing. Sometimes I feel like I’m a robot or something for spending all of my time on work but it’s the real me – a certified workaholic. Well few times I give myself a break and wind away from computer and bond with office friends but most of the times I fill my spare time with worthwhile browsing. 

Anyway if there are things that keep me away from work it’s browsing favorite sites for good reads and online window shopping for shoes, bags, gadgets and musical items for the family. Lately my dear daughter has been coaching me to look at gutar center for her favorite musical instrument and accessories. Her own guitar is not in good condition and she’s just using a borrowed one in practicing her musical pieces. Next month she’ll be performing as musician in their mini play presentation and as early as now she’s using all her spare time to master her craft. I’m saving some money now to buy her a better and high quality guitar to replace her old one.

Talents and Interests in Music

As the kids are growing up they’re beginning to show inclinations on various interests like arts, sciences and music. Arts and music runs in our blood and I could see them not only on my brother’s kids but on my own as well. My Mom always tell me how good in singing my grandfather was when he’s younger. He also plays Alfa and was really good at it that every one identifies him with his musical instrument. He has interest in other instruments like guitar and flute but he’s the best in Alfa. 

With his fondness in musical instruments I wonder if he could resist Agazarian cymbals when he see it in his generation. Now my grandfather’s penchant for music and various instruments will only be continued with his grandkids whose likings for the same things was passed unconsciously. Well many people has told me that it could be genes and I’m happy that God has blessed the kids with a good one.

My Daughter’s Hobby

If there’s one thing that can relax my daughter Gen it’s playing guitar and learning a piece of song. As soon as she gets home from her school she took a nap and rested then I saw her learning a new song again. They just finished their first periodical exams and one way of removing the stress out of her is plucking and playing her favorite musical instrument. Since it’s the last school day of the week we allow our children to let go a bit especially that they’ve been very tired of their school projects and exams. 

Her blue guitar is a gift not just for her but for her siblings as well. I was thinking that she has no backup if ever her guitar will malfunction so another one should be bought also. I would want the likes of taylor 214ce for spare guitar because of its beautiful gloss finish and quality but I should save more so we will be able to buy the best. My kids deserve nothing but the best.

Thinking of Business on Musical Instruments

Though I want to just stay at home and be content with my online work I really must find some extra work in the real world for stability of income. My earnings is good enough if I have a small business to tender but I’m still thinking of feasible field of business that will give me good source of income to add to my present one. I was actually thinking of having a business which compliments my hobbies like cooking, reading and music and with these I should start with a bakeshop, bookstore or selling musical instruments. 

I’ve always loved dropping by music store to update me of the prices of guitars, keyboard and other musical instruments that I love to play with my kids who are also fond of learning those instruments. But sometimes I find some too expensive for my budget that I often wish that I buy used musical instruments at WWBW for me to be able to enjoy quality instruments without spending more than my budget. Now I’m thinking if I can have a business of buying and selling musical instruments. This one will not only bring me excitement on handling various instruments but will give me extra source of income if ever. I’ll have to think about this.

Bent on Reaching Her Goals

Since my online work for now is manageable I can schedule writing posts at night because I find the weather conducive to working. I can think straight and produce creative ideas when it’s colder and besides it’s too hot for my lappy to work for several hours on hot temperature. Because of this I can work on my household during the day and today we had some general cleaning of all our cabinets and book shelves. It was worth my time because we were able to prepare the kids’ school things for the opening of classes. I gave my girls extra drawers for their accessories and girly stuff. 

When we finished our inventory and cleaning we spent the rest of the afternoon arranging the musical instruments. We checked our keyboards, guitar, flute and lyre. The kids love it when they devote their time on learning their instruments particularly the keyboard and guitar. Lately the head of the music ministry in the church urged them more to study and practice more so they can assume the responsibility of playing the keyboard or piano because there’s no one playing that particular instrument. 

 I’m glad Gen got the hang of it and can play several pieces now but when she’s at home she beg me to let her play the guitar first because it’s her fave musical instrument. She’s very interested with the guitar and continuously searching for better brands that she’ll going to buy when she has saved enough money. She told me about the pedal steel guitar at guitar center she saw online and asked me if she would be able to buy one. As young as she is she’s very determined on reaching her goals whether it’s school awards, music things or any other dream of hers.

Learning Music This School Break

Since the kids are now enjoying their school break they’re into their favorite hobby of learning musical instruments like piano, guitar, lyre and soon violin. I told them to take it one at a time because learning them all would give them some pressure. Well my second daughter is doing it on a weekly interval and she’s keen on learning as much as she can to maximize her vacation. The eldest is in between learning guitar and reviewing for her forthcoming college entrance examination in the next few months so it’s only one instrument for her. 

The vacation is doing them good despite the very hot weather. They eat well and sleep more and from what I’m seeing now they’re getting fuller cheeks. I hope that they will gain some pounds this summer to prepare them for the coming school year again. School days often took them some hours from their rest periods so it’s good that they make the most of their school vacation by eating, sleeping and learning musical instruments as much as they can. 

Anyway we’re searching for the best cajon for our home usage and also for our church because the one we’re using is really old and showing some signs of over usage already. Hope we’ll be able to find good deals online so we can spend our money on some instruments we need. We really need to update our instruments for better praising ceremony in the church.

My daughter Gen is being trained to be a pianist in the church by our head musician and as such every Sunday she would learn one song and later practice it at home. A Must in Organizing Events

In every event especially in concerts or special musical programs it’s best to have the finest equipment to maximize sound system and to make the occasion even more festive. I remember attending an event which is very special but the program failed somehow because the event host can’t be heard clearly. He had a hard time organizing the games and programs because the speakers they used had a trouble. 

I felt sorry for them but they should check all of their equipment and musical accessories first before they start the program.
