Ruth’s First Fruit Salad

>> Friday, October 31, 2008

Since it’s a holiday tomorrow I bought some food for the occasion, since my kids love pandesal I bought a bag full of pugon-baked goodies from Pan de Manila, I’ve picked the biggest size and some wheat type for me. For our lunch tomorrow I’ve only bought chicken because it’s their favorite together with barbeque which I intend to buy from the neighborhood barbeque house. For dessert I’ve picked some canned goods and creams for fruit salad. We all love salad from my Mom to my youngest Josh who has a taste for everything delicious meaning he has a big appetite!

I was relaxing myself watching television when Ruth volunteered to do the salad and since it’s a mix-everything-up recipe I let her do it with just basic instructions from me. She took after my flair in cooking and mixing food and little by little as she grows older she wants to try something new always. After mixing the salad she let me and her granny taste it then after our meticulous judgment (lol) she perfected the taste of her first ever fruit salad. We nearly ate one third of the mixture before she stored it in the freezer, yes she’s done it perfectly!

Home Shopping

>> Thursday, October 30, 2008

It’s nice to watch Howie Mandel’s video on promoting buy.com online shopping. It’s really amazing to see fast delivery of ordered items through home shopping. This kind of advertising is really great and I’m sure it will hit the market. Their style in promoting products and home shopping will boost the sale of all the products that they will endorse. It’s good to know we now have this kind of home shopping. It’s fantastic!

: Yen's Questions of the Week #37

>> Wednesday, October 29, 2008

1.What does whispering make you think of? Confidential things, sweet nothings, gossips
2 What kinds of current women’s clothing styles do you dislike the most?
Very low waist jeans that exposes your underwear and wearing them in workplace
3. What is your greatest extravagance?
My 3 kids :-)
4. Do you have a good luck charm? What is it?
Not really a good luck charm but a key chain with my favorite bible verse on it, It’s there on my office bag, lucky for me!
5. Fill in the blank: “Without ___ I am nothing.
” Without Jesus in my life, I am nothing
6. How do you react when you find out that your closest friend dated your ex?
I would feel awkward... there’s plenty of men out there surely my friend would find others…. But on other thoughts I think it would be ok as long as I don’t see them together hahaha! Honest – it’s ok because I’m happy with my life now and other people especially my closest friend have the right to be happy also!
7. Do your heart and your mind ever disagree
? Most of the times especially at my work, sometimes I’m forced to do things my heart don’t approve but my mind tells me it’s ok. Prayer is the key to make them agree.
8. In what areas of your life are you uncompromisable?

9. Have you ever gossiped about other people in order to add excitement to your

own life only for it to back-fire on you ?
Nope, I hate gossips I only like chikkas.
10. I am
in the phase of my life when I want to start something new and better where I can pursue the dreams of my heart and not the dreams of my mind. At 40 I want to do the things that I love doing and not just for the money! Life begins at 40 you know!

Beautiful Faucets

We were having a lunch break and washing our hands in our office lavatory when I noticed a very small leak in the faucet. As usual I must report it to our maintenance to see the faucet at once to prevent major repairs. Since the person who will do the checkup will reach the office in more than 20 minutes I started checking the mentioned faucet. I remember what my brother taught me about checking and fixing bathroom accessories. Sometimes the trouble needs minor repairs only especially if you have a quality well-made items like Delta faucets which is of good quality and beautifully made with anti-tarnish finish. This faucet is made to last for a long time.

Surprise Visit

>> Tuesday, October 28, 2008

I was hurriedly packing my things and food for office when we had a surprise visit from Shela, my niece and first-ever godchild from Famy Laguna. She's very close to me and now that her Mom passed away already I'm one of her adopted guardian because I'm her ninang, tita and also a friend. She was baptized when I'm only 10 years old so that makes us good friends too, too young to be her mom :-).

She's a favorite (hope some of my niece will not be able to read this or else!!! If you know her you'll know the reason why. She's sweet, funny and very thoughtful. When I gave birth to Josh 5 years ago she volunteered to come here in our house all the way from Laguna to be there for me when I arrived from the hospital. She assisted me for almost a month in her little own ways to make me feel comfortable. I have a helper then but in our house babies were cared for by my Mom and close family relative. My mom wouldn't allow my helper to take care of my kids. Helpers were just there to do household chores.

Anyway as I left for the office my girls entertained their Ate Shela by showing her photos in my pc and they read my blogs. I just talked to them online when I arrived at my work. Shela and her companion Tita Ilyang (my uncle' sister-in-law) arranged some papers here with my Mom's help and went home before 5pm.

Some Tips

>> Monday, October 27, 2008

Since it’s now Monday and workloads are usually full on this first day of work week I brought my own snack this time so I can work continuously without having to worry about my food. My officemates normally order lunch from nearby carinderia located just a few blocks away from our office or sometimes order from fast food restaurant. I bring my lunch most of the times but wait for the regular delivery guy who brought us snack here in our office. I’m a little bit choosy with the viands but for snack I love having different kinds.

Having your own food saves time because you can eat on time saving you the dilemma of waiting for food delivery and you can have plenty of break time to do anything you want on your rest periods. Like me now I’m reading some tips on how you can build muscle fast with proper training in gym, adequate intake of protein, proper nutrition and the use of muscle building supplements. Actually it’s not for me it’s for my friend who loves to have an ideal body built.

Planning Ahead

I’m glad that I’ve finished with my tasks of getting all food orders for our camp meeting in December. I’m now finalizing the total orders per menu so we can have the menu plan finished by Sunday in time for my report. Since I’ve drafted all yesterday I’m now doing the computation in my PC so I can save my file for future references.

Menu plan will consist of the quantity of meat, fish, vegetables and ingredients that we’re going to need for the whole consumption of all church members. I’ve already listed one and a half cavan of rice so when I’m finished with this one I’ll be able to complete all necessary food items for budgeting and buying. All I need after this is the printing of meal ticket which will be given one week before the occasion. I’ve always liked early and detailed preparation of things, in this way everything is in order.

Passport

My cousin needs to authenticate his birth certificate because he’s planning to leave the country by the start of the coming year. He didn’t have much time to do it so he just requested it online to save him his precious time. If he will not prepare the necessary documents for his passport his impending trip abroad will be delayed so he’s doing all efforts to complete them. I’m lucky that he didn’t asked me to do those things for him because I might not be able to refuse him and as it is I have lots of things to do by the end of this year. Lucky!

Preparations for the Camp

>> Sunday, October 26, 2008

I’ve prepared the list of menu for our upcoming camp meeting fellowship this December. Hubby and daughter Ruth helped me plot the order graph in the big whiteboard detailing the families and individuals in line with the menu for listing orders from them. In this way we can calculate how many meals are we going to prepare and cook for the whole church. Our setting in the December camp will going to be a cooking for the whole camp and not per family which is a much better setup for me.

We’re doing an early preparation of our camp meeting in December including the list of ministers who will share God’s word, the activities of the youth and kids, our transportation and travel to the venue, the musical instruments that we’re going to bring and the essential things that we must bring per family for our three-day stay in Villa Dominga Forest and Resort Camp Site

My Home Office

I’m starting to sketch renovation plans I’m going to do with our living room because I’m planning to put up a mini-office after my resignation in my work. I’m going to use the office for my outsource job, my blogging and for some accounting works on my store. It’s exciting to plan everything that relates to your dreams even if I have few months more before I can finally start this. Important thing is how I can fit my home office in a perfect location in my house. Of course I would want a cozy environment where I can have the convenience of a home environment in an office. That’s a lovely idea.

Josh’ Costume Party

>> Saturday, October 25, 2008

Josh enjoyed his costume party at school yesterday. He was telling his grandma (my mom) that it was really fun playing games with his classmates wearing different costumes. I accompanied him on this school activity and I saw that kids were really happy especially when they play Trip to Jerusalem and Group Yourselves games. Actually it’s their teachers who count and grouped them in because they seem to just wander about the circle never minding the number counting lol! Lucky I’m not their teacher because it requires a lot of patience.

Josh and his friend Carl won in the first game that they played so they’re happy enough that early in the program they have prizes already. In the succeeding games after that they just played lightly never really taking the games seriously. Josh was even asking me to pull him out of the group yourselves’ game when he saw the ice cream cart, he’s really a lover of ice cream.

It’s nice that the program lasted for only one hour after almost 30 minutes of waiting for other kids to arrive. The heat was scorching outside the school compound and I nearly fainted because I just came from sickness. Anyway as we reached our house and Josh was energetically telling his stories to granny I felt happy too. Here are some pics!

Busy Schedule

>> Friday, October 24, 2008

I’ve got plenty of work and school activities today so I filed a leave from work yesterday. Since I filed my resignation last May of this year and was requested to extend my stay in the office for when I still don’t know I was allowed to take a day off my whole week work to cope with my busy schedule.

I’ll accompany Josh to school for their costume party, a little bit early for the Halloween but it’s their last day today so that explains it. I have other scheduled work that need immediate attention and I also have to check on some diet pills for a friend so my leave of absence will be a lot of help for me. Also I need to rest as I’ve had colds, cough and fever last couple of days and have rested at home for one day only because I can’t file successive leave of absence at one time.

Cainta Moving Towards 2015

>> Saturday, October 18, 2008

School activities again and that means I have to get up early on a weekend. I also need to go with Ruth to finally see how good their school’s performance was when they won in the Literacy Month Poem Reading Contest last October 3, 2008. It was a happy winning for the school and the students who performed were congratulated.

Today is Cainta’s program for their Plan Towards 2015 titled Local Government Plan to Achieve the Millenium Development Goals. As part of the program all government officials and teachers were invited to join and watched the program. Chosen schools were chosen to give a valued performance and being the champion in the poem reading the group was invited to render a repeat performance of the piece that they’ve won early this month. I sensed some pressures on the part of the trainor as teachers, district supervisor, government officials, dignitaries and Mayor Mon were there to watch them.

With practice and best efforts from the students and trainor they’ve delivered the piece clearly and with conviction. I saw Mayor and his foreigner guests smiling as they watch the children rendering ‘The Bells’ by Edgar Allan Poe’. Actually I was also smiling by myself forgetting the nervousness I’m feeling earlier. I’m always like that when one of my kids is performing lol! Here’s enclosing some pictures of them.

Vacation In Bicolandia's Farm

>> Friday, October 17, 2008

My sister-in-law’s mother came from the Bicol region and as such they see to it that once in a while they visit their hometown to see family, relatives and friends. They also visit the place for special family occasions and sometimes for a nice relaxing vacation. They frequent the places where they swim on rivers, pick on root crops and harvest what’s ripe among the fruits and vegetables.

For someone who grew up in the urban areas like us and the family of my brother it was a pleasurable respite from the bustling life in the urban. No traffic, no malls, no keeping up with the time and a bus ride away from internet café (that’s not so good to me). Anyway with the modern technology you can always put your mobile internet through your PC as long as it’s a 3G. But sometimes it’s a relaxing break to be free from any signs of modern technology, it’s nice to be just like the province people, happy and contented with their way of life. My niece and nephew seemed so happy in their pictures when they had their vacation there, and who would not be happy it’s really nice to be there.

Samar’s Get Away

>> Tuesday, October 14, 2008

Yes I spelled it correctly because Samar’s beach is one of the best summer get away. People keep flocking on the paradise resort of this archipelago most populated is of course the Boracay Island but for the natives of East Samar in Giuan they’ve found a place for them comparable to the beautiful and famous resorts in the Philippines. Good thing about this is that it’s for free, yes you can go whenever you want because it’s just a few meters away from the village and the beach is not owned by a rich businessman.

The whole beachfront of this town is free. Why I know? Because it’s the hometown of dear hubby where the whole clan of his parents resides, though I may say hubby and his siblings were born and raised here in Quezon City. He always tell me that he’s a Quezonian lol! He’s the only one in their family of eight that’s never been to this place because his work can’t allow long vacation. Wish we could file a leave from work and be there on summer! Wishes!

See pictures of hubby’s siblings here!

Win's Little Princess

>> Monday, October 13, 2008

Babies are like angels, when they come into this world you feel happy and blessed. That’s the feeling of second-timer parents’ Winroe and Charis. They feel so blessed now that their little princess Kezia Ammiel finally got out of her protected shell inside Charis’ womb, another blessing to her Mom and Dad who has already a 4-year old kid. Everybody keep on telling them that they’re complete already having a boy and now a baby girl. They’re a beautiful pair you know!

Win as we fondly call him here in our office has been my friend for almost 6 years now, a born-again Christian like me whom I share a lot in terms of life’s ups and downs. He’s been a constant listener whenever I feel the pressure of my job and when I feel happy on my family and my achievements. Since he has become a born-again Christian for a year now we also shared God’s wonderful blessing on us, not only on financial or material things but spiritual as well which is more important.

Jehovah Jirei

>> Sunday, October 12, 2008

We had a fulfilling Sunday as usual and Pastor Ed was happy to announce that despite of not getting our usual camp site for the holiday season Bro. Gerry has found a new one. Again God has proven to us that He’s the great provider – our Jehovah Jirei. The mansion that we’re renting for 2 camp meetings now was rented by a Belgian national for one year and the owner was so sorry for giving it to that foreigner. We were only two weeks late from the Belgian’s proposal and Pastor was so sad about it last Monday.

God is so good that right after we learned about not making it to the reservation Bro. Gerry was successful in finding a new one in Indang, Cavite again where we had our fellowship in 2006 before our Tagaytay Venue. The owner of Villa Dominga Forest Resort is a new born-again Christian and upon learning that we’re interested in renting the place for December she agreed and gave us a discount. The place is a 3.3 hectare camping site with swimming pools and conference hall big enough for more than a hundred people.

Here are some pictures that I got online, I wasn’t able to scan the brochure that they gave us.

Sleeping On Tents!

>> Saturday, October 11, 2008

Our church is always spending December holiday season and holy week on far-away camp sites far from the bustling metropolis. There we will put up tents and do our cooking on portable gas stove and some on charcoal. We usually have fellowship for three days and we bring clothing and food stock for the whole period because markets and groceries are usually very far from our chosen sites. As mommy to 3 kids I learned the technique of packing necessary things for the camp meetings because if you’re not that organized you might miss some essential things.

Camp meetings are the occasions that we really look forward to and we planned everything months before the fellowship. We’ve rented many places on our camp meetings, we’ve gone to DInalupihan Nature Center in Bataan, there’s one occasion that we’ve had it in Florida Pampanga, when I was a new baptized Christian in early 90’s I remembered our camp meeting in Rain Forest in Pasig City (not so far from us) and in Jabez camp site in Cavite.

Here’s one beautiful site that we’ve first experience sleeping on tents, it was a memorable experience for all of us so I’m sharing this to you. It was on Cerca, Brgy. Banaba, Indang,Cavite a place near Tagaytay City, a 2 hectare camping site full of fruit-bearing trees.

Planet’s Cutest Animal!

>> Thursday, October 9, 2008

I found this picture really nice, look at those enormous eyes and very long limbs! Yes it’s the world’s smallest monkey having 10 to 15 cm only in length and can be seen in Southeast Asia and here in the Philippines you can see them in Bohol. Osang shared me this picture taken by her hubby while they’re on a vacation in one of the resorts there. It just captured my attention and decided to post it here. I’ve heard that it’s the earth’s cutest animal with very soft, velvety fur but careful because even if it’s cute it can’t be your pet at home! Anyway tarsiers are being protected by the government as they’re so precious! Just a reminder only!

Kuya's Birthday

>> Tuesday, October 7, 2008

Today is my brother’s birthday, the eldest to me and Redge. Unlike past years he didn’t prepared a big celebration. They were shopping for goods for their Sta. Lucia’s booth store so they opted to celebrate on a different date.

Kuya is the first among us who experienced God’s overwhelming grace and glory, I remember those mornings spent sharing God’s word. I was on an afternoon shift then and he’s starting his construction company, we’re still single at that time so we have every morning to spare to talk and share God’s word. It was when I felt the urge to feel and know more about God. God used my big bro in my realization of God’s wonderful love to me. Since that first fellowship way back Sept. 26, 1992 where he has brought me and Redge to House of God church my life has changed. On Oct. 25 of that same year we were baptized.

Now Kuya is very busy with his government office work and construction company but still manage to have three bible study in a week wherein he shares God’s word to people in Cainta, Infanta, Quezon and Calamba, Laguna. He’s an Evangelist Engineer and he heed to God’s calling spending his personal money and never asking for return. He told us God will return the blessing to Him. He told us it’s better to help people who can’t return the favor to you because that’s the true spirit of giving – not asking or waiting anything in return.

I thank God for giving us a big brother like him, a college scholar who uses his wisdom in sharing God’s word and uses his hard-earned money to help others. Like the title of his newly-created blog for sharing God’s word he truly has a Servant Heart.

Browsing New Templates

>> Wednesday, October 1, 2008

It’s Ramadhan holiday today! Me and sis Redge were busy with choosing new template for our blogs. I want to change my layout template for my other domain blog ‘Moments of My Life’. I’m thinking if I will do it now because it will take me time to completely change and I’ll have to save the codes to be sure that I’ll be able to put back the codes in case it didn’t showed up in the new template. I decided to do it next time that I have free time because I have to do some due assignments on my other blog. I’ll be leaving also a little later to attend bible study in Cubao. Josh was asking me if he could come with me and I said I’ll think about it. I’ll bring him with me but I’ll just surprise him later.
