:FF/FTF:Baguio Pasalubong Items

>> Friday, July 16, 2010

Are you familiar with these yummy foods? These Lengua de Gato and Choco Flakes are two of the edible goodies from Baguio's common pasalubong items. Some others are Peanut & Cashew Brittle, Ube Haleya (Purple Yam Jam), Strawberry Jams & Preserves, Coco Jelly and a host of yummy products available everywhere-- at souvenir stores, pasalubong corners, at the market and bus terminals. Well I love lengua de gato and how it kinda melts in the mouth and I love munching on choco flakes.

:FF/FTF: Crema De Fruta

>> Friday, July 9, 2010

This is Crema De Fruta from Goldilocks which we ate from baby Princess' birthday. So refreshing and yummy. Great partner for my pasta! I'm fond of refrigerated cake which I make from Graham's biscuits, all purpose cream, condensed and fruit cocktail. This one is a bit different but if I'm too lazy to make my own ref cake this one can be a good replacement.

:FF/FTP: Sherbet

>> Friday, July 2, 2010

The weather today is changing every now and then. One moment it's hot then another moment it's cloudy. It's hard to predict if it will rain or not but my craving for this yummy ice cream is very predictable lol! With the sunny/rainy weather today I'm drooling for Shakey's sherbet ice cream. The pic I had was that of my little boy's ice cream in Shakey's two weeks ago. I didn't ordered another one for me because it was after midnight then and I was so full with pizza and pasta. Josh only ate a slice of pizza and ordered this one. Look at him here!

Update :-)
Here's a happier picture of him! He asked his sisters to help him with the ice cream lol!

:FF/FTP: White-Sauced Pasta

>> Friday, June 25, 2010

It's one of the foods that I love when we attended my niece' baby christening. I'm a lover of pasta especially the white sauce ones. I don't cook it often in our house because my kids love the regular red-sauced spaghetti and when I cooked carbonara it's only the adults who eat. So if I want to eat carbonara or fettuccini I just buy or order from a trusted yummy cook :-)

:FF/FTP: Mom's Birthday Cake

>> Friday, June 18, 2010

It's one of Mom's 3 birthday cakes given by my cousin Wilma on the exact date of her birthday and of course we love it because it's the Cookies and Cream from Red Ribbon. Who would resist a cake from double R. It's not me of course as I'm always looking forward to their new creations.

:FF/FTP: Buco-Fruit Salad

>> Friday, June 11, 2010

It's one of the food in my Mom's birthday in the resort and it all came from Laguna where buco fruit is at its best :-). It's one of the crops in our town and we're very proud of it. We love it also as it can't be beat with other kinds when it comes to freshness and cool yummy taste. Now this shredded buco was combined with fruit cocktail, cheese, condensed milk and creams to give that oh so yummy taste.

:FF/FTP: Chopsuey

>> Friday, June 4, 2010

Here's one favorite recipe of mine which is complete for me, vegetable and your choice of meat. You can mix the veggies with chicken liver, chicken meat or pork. But if you want to make it without meat I have my original recipe of adding tofu chicharon which you make by frying breaded tofu and sprinkling cold water on it. Then you can just put it on top and around the cooked chopsuey. For me it's best to have chicken liver and tofu, it's cheaper too.

:FF/FTF : Siomai Soup

>> Friday, May 28, 2010

Now it rained and it cooled down the hot temperature this night. I'm looking forward to a nice steaming soup like this one which I called Siomai soup because I forgot to ask its name when Iya had her christening. It's a starter to a lunch or dinner buffet. I got the name from the contents of the soup which are steamed pork siomai, molo wraps (I think :-)) and some ingredients for the soup itself. I'm sorry for the guess as I'm just a visitor there and not the cook.
Anyway it's a good starter especially if you're hungry enough to eat a couple of horses as what the old folks has been telling me when I was a child in our hometown province. Well pork siomai is my favorite and I also like it without the soup, steamed or fried is perfect for me with chili sauce hmm yummy!

:FF/FTF: Pork Bopis

>> Friday, May 14, 2010

This is one of the menu in Iya's christening which was prepared by her grampy, a little different in color to my known bopis recipe. Actually I didn't know how he made and cooked this but I know that Bopis is a spicy Filipino recipe made out of pork's heart, lungs, kidneys and intestines. You need some garlic, onions and tomatoes to saute it with. You also have to add some soy sauce, pepper, salt and sugar. For garnishing you need chili. Anyway there are other ways of cooking it depending on your taste.

My church mate used to cook it for our bible study and she sometimes adds liver and Sprite or 7-Up soft drinks in it. Well it's so perfectly delicious and I'm confident that it's clean :-). I don't buy cooked Bopis from people I don't know. I haven't had a chance to cook Bopis because I'm not so familiar with cooking pork's internal organs lol! Sometimes I can't stand the sight of them when I see them in markets. It's easier for me to look at the grounded organs or the cooked one.

:FF/FTP : Chewy Cheeze

>> Friday, May 7, 2010

This is one of my kids' fave when we're dining in KFC. It's new when we ordered and looking at it I was really expecting that it's as yummy as all food in KFC. Well the kids love it especially that it's really hot and fresh when they tasted it. They even want to order some more but they're full enough. I told Josh that I can make it more delicious than this because I find this one not that super good as compared with KFC's foodies. Btw it's cheese dipped in a mixture of flour and spices I think (correct me if I'm wrong, just tasted it once)

We're always eating there and I love their chicken burgers, chicken, french fries, brownies, soup and I like having their juices without additional amount ( in other fast food you'll have to add just to convert softdrinks for juice which is pricey for me). I drink softdrinks or cola on occasions only so i prefer meal package with choices on drinks. Anyway as long as the kids enjoy it I'll still order it but I'm hoping for some improvement :-) Oh well I'm really a blogger and I just made a review on this food lol! Just my opinion really!

:FF/FTP: Adobong Tuna

>> Friday, April 30, 2010

This is my first ever venture to cook a big tuna fish. My Mom' friend gave a one and a half feet size tuna fish and as I don't want my Mom to be tired in preparing this I took the courage to do it my way. Since I'm not so used to cooking this one I just did some simple steps to cook it. Here's what I did. I've cut the fish into slices and cook it in three phases:

First Phase : Have it boiled slightly in vinegar, garlic, pepper and salt to remove the bad odor or 'lansa'

Second Phase: I fried the slices after removing it in the vinegar boiled mixture

Third Phase: I made an adobo recipe out of it, I've put soy sauce, garlic, seasoning and drops of calamansi to give the lemony aroma and taste because tuna fish has some 'lansa' smell on it. Now you can see above the final menu which my son commented that it took me some time to cook our lunch. Well my effort paid off when they praised it. My Mom and kids loved it! It extended up to our dinner. Actually it taste like chicken to me lol!

:FF/FTP: Home Made Meat Patties

>> Friday, April 23, 2010

This is my home made meat patties which is one of my kids' favorites. I don't want to give them the commercial kind of patties that's why I made my own very simple and quick mixture of meat patties.

This is made of 1/2 kilo ground pork, 1 egg, 2 medium potatoes, 1 big carrot, 1 big onion, 1/4 clove of garlic, 6 tbsp. cornstarch (more or less), seasoning (optional), salt and pepper. It's easy to do it, just mix all ingredients and make sure all are grounded and finely chopped for easy cooking. After mixing all ingredients evenly try to form balls or patties depending on the shape you want and deep fry it.

If you want burger patties just remove potatoes and carrots and it will taste just as good and yummy!

:FF/FTP : Chicken Cordon Bleu

>> Friday, April 16, 2010

This is one of the potluck foods in our 50th alumni and I haven't posted it because I'm not sure of the name of this food. It was ordered from Wow-Lu restaurant and from what I've tasted from it's made of potatoes and chicken shreds. It's a finger food and so yummy good that it's gone in several minutes.

Anyway my friend used to work as part-time party coordinator in some of the restaurant's birthday and wedding caterings and she supplied me with a name for this one. It's a chicken cordon bleu according to her. Well I was assuming that it's a potato something name but as my friend Jannet told me it's a chicken cordon bleu. Thanks friend for the name and I hope it's right lol!

Now I was thinking of ordering it for Mom's birthday so I can confirm it's name. I can't contact my classmate who ordered it so is there anyone here who can confirm me?

:FF/FTP : School Farewell Foods

>> Friday, April 9, 2010

These are some of the foods at Gen's Grade V farewell party in school sponsored by top ten students of section 1. Gen got the 4th place and she happily came up the stage once more getting the reward for all her efforts and perseverance in studying. We decided to buy donuts as Gen told me that her classmates will surely love it. Four boxes were enough for them because some didn't attend the farewell and recognition activities because it falls on holy week. Some spent their vacation on their provinces. There were different kinds of pancit and bibingka, pandan gelatin, drinks and some other foods.
