:WW - Bonding

>> Wednesday, April 29, 2009

Bonding moments for my friend Win and his daughter Kezia Ammiel taken in the beautiful beach in Brgy. Buenasuerte in Nabas, Aklan their hometown. You can see the scenic beauty of the beach and the waves rolling over, it's the same sea enjoyed by the vacationers in Boracay. The place is near the famous Boracay Island but you won't believe it, it's free. Beautiful gift from nature created by God for us to enjoy without spending!

See the cute baby walk in the sand by the beach in Moments of My Life!

Wireless Network

My sis Redge and I were both blogging and we decided to have a wireless network at home so we can use the internet at the same time. I’ve done some canvassing and searching and finally chose the Linksys router to accommodate our two personal computers and laptops if ever my brother is there to visit us. We chose the wireless one because we’re also planning to have laptop or notebook. That way we could easily go around the house and still use our laptops without worrying if we could have an access online. I’m still saving for an HP laptop.

Sharing My Thoughts For 2 Years Now!

I’m very happy yesterday as I've reached my second year in blogging. It’s been two years now since I’ve started sharing my thoughts. my life, my family, my work and all that happens in my life. It has given me some thoughts before I started out because in having your personal blog it’s like having the whole world read your life. I decided to give it a try as I also want to share God’s word, His blessings and all the wonderful things He can do for us.

Race Corner is my first blog in which I write my thoughts and my family. I opened another site which I focused on our church activities and spiritual thoughts that can enlighten people to realizing that living a life with God as the center is indeed ‘A Beautiful Life’. Now I have two other blogs – this blog and Moments of My Life which became my main sites and redirected them to domain sites as I feel really good having my own domain. Through all these sites I continue to share my life’s journey with my friends and visitors.

Easy Way To Search College Textbooks

>> Monday, April 27, 2009

When I was in college I’ve had difficulty in finding some textbooks for my major subjects in computer. I was taking up Computer Engineering and most of our textbooks then in computer architecture and design were hard to find in local bookstores. Sometimes I had half of the computer design book photocopied just to have my own copy. Now I saw online some sites offering college subject textbook search for those who want to search, compare and order/shop online for their needed books in their course of study.

Really technology has brought so much convenience and comfort even in searching books for our college education. Now you can compare, find and choose your specific required textbook in the comfort of your home, no need to walk through malls and bookstores just to find your needed books. It will help me a lot also as I have three kids who are studying now and when they reached college I will just browse online for their textbooks and I can shop online too. This is really good for mothers like me.

Summer Camp Day 2–Our Last Day

Day 2 brought us more blessings spiritually starting from day dawn service at 5am among the ministers. They successfully held ‘Disciples Prayers’ which made them all feel very close to each other and to God. We all know that the distance to God is just a prayer away so prayer is really that powerful. All burdens unloaded, personal problems solved and worries gone. They prayed for the whole church and for each other’s ministry.

Morning service was flooded by testimonies from youth, elders, ministers and mothers like me. Some brought tears and most brought more encouragement to trust our life to God. I had my own testimony that happened just before the service.

Pastor asked to go to Mrs. Dominga to give the full payment for the hall that we rented. Before I even approached her she was smiling to me as she excitedly told me that it’s their first time to have 4 customers all at the same time who are all born-again Christians. She even asked me if I promoted her place to my website because there’s one customer that told her that he found the place in a website and been encouraged to rent it for fellowship service. Glad my sis Redge and my site were able to help her in our own way but the truth is God has helped them because her villa has been used as fellowship place to glorify His name.

We felt that two days fellowship service is kinda short for us. After the afternoon service we felt like we should have made this a 3-day affair and planned to make it longer next time. We’ve made reservations for December 2009 camp meeting fellowship and we’ll make sure it will be a longer period of camp meeting fellowship. We arrived home safe and very blessed. God is so good….

Benefits of Attending Training

>> Sunday, April 26, 2009

During my 16 years of stay in my present employer. I’ve attended various training mostly in the latter part of my employment starting in the mid of 2000. Being an Admin/HR officer required me to search for training agency that will execute seminars and training modules to our employees especially those assigned in one of the major international banks in the country in Asian Development Bank. We’re a service provider and contractor there and our contract necessitates us to conduct training for our employees regularly on a yearly interval, of course I’m responsible in assisting the project manager and trainors on the corporate training.

It was always a good experience for me every time we held seminars because it gives me a chance to attend too. On the following seminars preceding the first we received various offers from other companies wanting to conduct seminars on us, some are popular and others are just the regular freelancer. Most of them just emailed their proposals. I’ve received one offer about corporate training video production and we’ve yet to discuss if the owner will choose that one. It would be nice to have it of course for a change!

Generally all these seminars added to my portfolio and being one of the attendees I had the opportunity to experience and learn many facets of work related seminars such as team management, personality development, handling staff, work etiquette, telephone etiquette, speech development and motivating minds. I know all of these will help me a lot to be more productive and goal-oriented in my work.

Summer Camp Day1 – Communion and Feet Washing

After the morning and afternoon service we had our communion followed by feet washing. Ed led the first part of the service continued by the relevant message from our Pastor discussing vital importance of having communion and what the Christians would do before entering communion. That is – we should finish all misunderstandings with your loved ones and friends. We should have a light heart devoid of ill-feeling, hatred, worries and other thoughts and things that would make our heart heavy with burdens.

Feet washing on the other hand displays the person’s humility as washing your brethren’s feet and praying for each other can only be done if you have a humble heart.

We felt God’s presence during that special service and everyone felt renewed and light-hearted.

Bonfire and grilling barbeque followed after.

Dealing With Taxes

My work primarily deals with finances and administration and though the company is just a small telecommunications corporation still confidentiality regarding finance is of utmost importance especially with me as I handle all collections and settlements. I’m handling the supervision of our accounting department and that requires me to oversee payroll, accounts payables, benefits, incentives and other accounting areas.

But if you’ll ask me I’m not really a graduate of accountancy but have finished a degree in computer engineering, an accounting associate close friend of mine just thought me a lot when the company was just starting and when she left I was left to take over her job. It’s alright for me to do these things except tax matter so I let our bookkeeper and auditor take charge of our corporate and individual employees’ taxes. Our auditor advises us to be careful about deadlines and due dates as we wouldn’t want the company to have penalty charges.

I’ve heard some cases of artists with the BIR regarding their taxes and I’m wondering why such cases happen as they have their own accountant to plan their property and professional taxes. They should have hired a competent person to do the job accurately like San Diego California tax law attorney who are well versed in property tax and all other kinds of taxes, just what everyone needs to satisfy their legal and finance requirements. It’s very important to hire someone who has the capabilities to fix all your financial and tax problems, it somehow put your mind at rest that no government tax agency will charge you of anything. It’s better to pay all our dues to them to prevent future humiliation and distress just like what happened to some artists who had to endure bad news and court case.

Summer Camp Day 1

>> Saturday, April 25, 2009

This is a late post but a very memorable activity that I don't want to miss having it in my site.

We had a perfect God-given time on our summer camp fellowship in Indang, Cavite last April 9 & 10. We held it again in Mrs. Dominga's Villa Dominga Forest Resort where fruit bearing trees and beautiful flowers surround the very spacious villa. This time the place has more flowers which are in full bloom especially the sunflowers which are just sprawled wildly beside the rows of banana trees. I reminded myself that it's summer and next month is the flower month so that explains the beautiful blooms around us.

First day was a bit busy as we have to arrange everything we have from the trunk of the car to the hall where we're supposed to stay. Tents were happily assembled by the youth and even children, my kids excitedly assembled their own :-). The ministers and the elders took charge of the pulpit and the conference hall arrangement, the most important area of our camp fellowship. Each of us has our own assignment and we did every little preparations and arrangement before 9am to get ready for our first morning service.

Morning and afternoon services were full of praising and encouraging messages, each minister assigned as exhorter or preacher has his own way of delivering prepared teaching and preaching. Our brethren have a lot of testimonies on how they tried to save money for this camp meeting, some on their trials in life before they become a Christian and now that they're serving the Lord. You can see the tears of happiness on their faces as they testify and thank God for never-ending guidance and blessing.

We had our bonfire after dinner, had some sharing and grilled chicken barbeque. I slept earlier because I want to wake up early for tomorrow's service.

Here are some pics, will post other activities on my Summer Camp Communion and Summer Camp Day 2.

Taking Advantage of the Abnormal Weather

We’re experiencing abnormal weather these days imagine having rains on summer months. Anyway as I hate super hot weather I welcome the idea of having rain showers as it cools down the summer heat which is dangerous to those with sickness that aggravates on hot and humid temperature.

Rains make me enjoy my vacation leave with my kids and mom as we tend to stay at home the whole day. I also love cooking hotcakes and popcorn when it rains because the heat I endure staying in front of my stove is bearable on cold rainy days. As I stay at home most of the times I use some industrial products given to me by a friend, an excess to their needs. He has given me some materials for repair and cleaning supplies which I use now on my general cleaning and repair of the house.

:WW - My Kids' Tent

>> Wednesday, April 22, 2009

Have you experienced sleeping on tents? Well as for my kids they find it very exciting, though this time it's not their first time to sleep on tent they always love bringing it on our camp meetings. My two daughters sleep on their own usually with my sis redge and my little Josh with hubby and me. It's their first time to build it on their own and they giggled and laughed as they assembled their tent. So mommies have your little and big children experience the fun of sleeping on tents.

What Does Your Work Space Say About You?

>> Monday, April 20, 2009

I've been trying to tidy my workplace since I only go to office once a week this month. I wanted my place to be spotless and my files stored safely to be sure all confidential files are secured. I'm not that perfectly neat but I want my things in the proper place just in case someone called me to ask where my things are, that's my dilemma when I'm on leave I'm expected to know and memorize exactly my directories, files, documents and location of every single thing that I'm in charge of, they call me and I should perfectly know what they're asking me.

Speaking of workspace do you know what does your work space say about you? Take this test and you'll see for yourself. Here is mine:

Your Workspace Says You Work Best With Others

You are an organized and detail oriented person. You have your life in order.

You tend to work at your own pace. If this means things don't

You feel like you neglect your family and friends when you're working. You may work a bit too much.

You are still trying to figure out your ideal career. You could quit your current job on any given day.

At work, you tend to be an extrovert. You enjoy working with other people and drawing people into your work space.

Landing Finance Jobs

>> Saturday, April 18, 2009

When a friend or relative learns that I’m resigning from my job they always tell me to think it over as job opportunities now are getting fewer and I might not land into another job that will give me a stable income. They’re right but they just don’t know how hard it is to handle finance jobs as I find it very delicate to handle. When you’re in a finance or accounting department you have to careful in disclosing figures as the job demands for strict confidentiality and honesty of course.

As of now I just can’t really figure out how a computer engineering graduate landed a position in finance department, I supposed it depends on how your boss sees how wide you can expand your horizon in learning new things and accepting challenges in life.

:Food Friday - Ampalaya Con Tofu

>> Friday, April 17, 2009

Glad I'm back here after a month. I've been busy with so many activities and most of my schedules falls on a Friday making it possible for me to join this meme I come to love. Anyway my entry for this week is my favorite Ampalaya which I cooked this time with breaded tofu, it's my own original recipe made healthier by not mixing any meat content.

Tofu was dipped in a a mixture of water and soy sauce then breaded before frying. Ampalaya was cooked the normal way except that breaded fried tofu was mixed after the egg unlike when you use pork meat. For me it's more delicious and for the health-conscious and dieters you can say it's the best alternative. Ampalaya is my weekly recipe to give me what I need for my low blood supplement.

Try it guys and I'm sure you'll love it! Happy Food Friday to all, enjoy your weekend!

Sorting Things Out

>> Tuesday, April 14, 2009

As I’m on a one-month vacation leave I’m doing some general cleaning and inventory on the house on my few vacant periods from taking care of my Mom. I was glad that my kids can help me with my task as they’re also on their school vacation. They cleaned up their school cabinets and discarded things that they will not use next school year.

Even my preschooler Josh asked me to teach him how I sort his clothes; I was amazed that he can learn things fast. I noticed that I will need new tv stands because I’ll separate one tv for viewing videos alone and another for television shows only. Sometimes the kids can’t be moved out of their cable tv shows so I’ll separate the other tv for music and movie videos only.

:WW - Floodway Houses

>> Wednesday, April 8, 2009

This is only a snapshot from my mobile cam and I just wanted to capture this scene. The sky looks very serene and peaceful but the houses along the side of the Pasig floodway gives me a frightening thought that their houses and lives might not be safe there. Actually I've heard news from the past that on some heavy storms that hit Metro Manila some of these houses were carried by the flood. Hope someone from the government give serious attention on this.

Part-Time Consultant

>> Tuesday, April 7, 2009

It's hard to work once a week only as you have to finish everything within 8 hours, one thing that makes me happy is the thought that I'll be with my family again for several days. My fear is that I'm getting used to my present schedule of going to my work once a week, I don't know how am I going to be adjusted again to my regular office hours.

I have a wishful thinking that I'll go on like this after my leave. I know it's possible because my boss offered me to work three times a week as consultant to his other company which is actually my company for 10 years before BT&T. What's stopping them from transferring me was the difficulty in finding an accountant, administrative and human resource officer all at the same time. They need someone like me who will be in-charge of all the mentioned positions. Question is - will someone accept all these multi-positions with just one salary only? Hope yes so I can move on with my part-time job so I can pursue my planned business and be with my family more often.

Campers’ Site

>> Monday, April 6, 2009

My church mates and I were talking about our forthcoming summer camp fellowship which will be held in Indang, Cavite near Tagaytay City. We were discussing about things needed in camping because were going to sleep on tents when someone asked me about specific information on camping and parks available for such purpose. I’m not that familiar with those things and I’m glad that I found rv, the site and source for travel trailers, campers and national parks. I didn’t know this site before and I really appreciate getting information easily online, it saves time, effort and answers inquiries faster than researching on books. Anyway I don’t think I have books on this topic so this online site helps a lot.

Colon Cleanse

>> Friday, April 3, 2009

I chanced upon Lisa, a relative very close to our family and she silently whispered to me that the husband of our auntie who used to be very healthy and strong now has been diagnosed to have colon cancer. I was a bit shocked as I’ve seen him months ago and I didn’t notice any trace of sickness on him. In fact I’m planning to ask him if he could do some work on our glass windows, he’s a glass specialist and we want him to do the job for us.

Lisa told me that he didn’t know that he has colon cancer; he just assumed that he has some trouble with his stomach; he actually thought its only ulcer. After I have recovered from mixed feelings of shock and worry I remembered the sites I browsed about colon cleanse and I immediately suggested that they consult their doctor about this for a chance that it might help him. I’m just busy now with nursing my Mom after her cataract operation but after these busy weeks I’ll check on them if they’ve already consulted it with their doctor.

:WW - Graduation Month!

>> Wednesday, April 1, 2009

More balloons here just like in my other blog entry. This is the graduation stage of my son Josh with very refreshing summer color design. Now it's the first day of April and graduation ceremonies are almost finished except for some who scheduled their rites at the end of this week. For the graduates of 2009 may the knowledge gained from school and good attitude taught by our teachers be used also in our own home and in the society around us.
