:Food Friday - Hubby's Birthday Food!

>> Friday, January 22, 2010

Today is dear husband's birthday and these are his birthday foods. We celebrated it in advance yesterday as he filed a leave of absence yesterday for a one-day vacation rest in Tagaytay. We didn't go on with the plan of going to highlands of Tagaytay but we spent the day together in the house and decided to cook and celebrate his birthday yesterday. We went to the mall in the morning with Josh as he's on an early morning school schedule and bought some food and electrical supplies for the house.

Later in the afternoon I cooked pasta and chicken, made some delightful fruit salad and ordered cake. My girls were surprised at the advance celebration when they arrived but were happy with it. They were expecting that we're still in Tagaytay. Well everything happens on purpose, maybe on our next plan my young girls will have no exams and they will able to come with us.

Happy Food Friday to all, see other yummy foods here!

:Food Friday - My Bday Cake

>> Friday, January 8, 2010

Been absent for two weeks now and even if it's late already I don't want to miss again this week. It's been two fridays that I'm absent from this meme. Just like to share with you a part of my rush birthday cake three weeks ago. I called it rush because we celebrated my birthday early morning and there were no available bakeshop open that hour except the one nearest to us. I used to have Red Ribbon cakes only for my birthday. DH and Ruth bought it for me as early as 6am. Anyway it's a yummyb choco cake and a good combination for my special spaghetti!

PH#178 - Electric (Fountain)

>> Saturday, September 12, 2009

This is the electric-controlled fountain in the new Sky Garden in SM North Edsa Mall (Philippines) where hubby toured us when we visited him last Saturday in his work place. It's actually Josh' birthday then and we thought of going to hubby's work than wait for him in the evening in our house. We sort of saved time for our celebration of our youngest birthday.

Anyway the Sky Dome where Sky Garden is also located has plenty of restaurants, fountains, ponds, stores and nice corners for picture taking. We enjoyed the tour and ended it with Josh motor ride and dinner at KFC - the family's favorite :-)

Josh Birthday!

>> Sunday, September 6, 2009

Had some fun at the mall with my kids and hubby yesterday celebrating Josh' 6th birthday. My youngest prep student has turned 6 yesterday and he was very happy about it. It was like an extra medal for him, funny that kids regard additional age as a very exciting event in their lives :-) Josh was actually counting the days as early as August and the night before his birthday he told me that he's very excited.

At home we let him wish and blow his cake and we ate cake and pasta before we set off where we decided to have fun. We surprised hubby who was having a hard time getting permission to leave early from work, kids and I planned our activities in the mall where hubby works. He was very happy when he saw us there in front of the store and told us that someone will be coming to relieve him of his works. While waiting for his reliever we spent the time in an arcade because that's where the kids wanted to be in the first place.

When hubby finally timed out he walked us all to the whole area of SM North including the newest addition the SKy Garden. We just stopped roaming around the place when Josh had his time in motor riding. He was very happy with it and he made some friends already. We finally ended our 2-hour malling with our dinner at KFC (kids' request). We went home with all of our 3 kids happy and satisfied.

BIRTHDAY SURPRISE!

It's always a surprise for kids whenever it's their birthday with the numerous gifts they receive on their special day. For them there is no small or big gifts as long as they have gifts to open they're happy enough. That's the wonder of being a child, the contentment on the simple things in life. They appreciates even the smallest and simplest of things like my son Josh here on his birthday last year (he's going to turn 6 next week). Look at his excitement on his classmate's gift to him, you can feel that he's very happy.

I just thought of including the second pic with his surprised and happy look as I took a shot on him while he and his classmates were eating his birthday snack.

:Food Friday - Birthday Cake

>> Friday, August 21, 2009

Will have to pass the weekly nutritional foods now as I'm posting my eldest Ruth's birthday cake. It's a chocolate cake which is so yummy but not so sweet that's why you'll be back for more and more and more.... This one was not from any other famous bakeshop because I've only ordered it in our neighborhood community bakeshop. The whole family loves cake so in every birthday that we had cake would always be in the center of the birthday feast. Enjoy the pic!

Two Birthdays and Thankgiving

>> Thursday, August 20, 2009

In time for Ruth's birthday last Tuesday and my sister' birthday yesterday we prepared a quite simple celebration for them in our church yesterday. We're going to be the host family for next week's bible study but we exchanged it so we can combine my two loved ones' birthday in our bible study. It's more of a thanksgiving occasion and we're happy that it falls exactly on a Wednesday.

Ruth and Redge used to set a date for them every year because they love having their dates of birthday in a row. When I was still pregnant Redge was hoping that I'll give birth to my first baby on her birthday but Ruth came out few hours before the date :-) I prepared and cooked the all-time favorite spaghetti, barbeque and brownies which were served after the bible study. We thanked God for the bountiful blessings bestowed upon us and we return them with gratitude through this thanksgiving.

Ruth's Birthday!

>> Tuesday, August 18, 2009

It’s Ruth’s birthday today and I was very busy as she celebrated it partially in school with some of her classmates and in our house with family only. I cooked very early before lunch so I can bring pasta and bread to her classmates before their lunch break. Half of the class is going home at lunchtime so it’s easier to manage her birthday there. I was on time-pressure as I also need to finish some due tasks online but decided to leave some when I get back. Mommies should really be on a fast-move track to do everything in time, wish I hired the magic wand of fairy godmother lol!Anyway I reached the school before 12 noon and made Ruth very happy as seen from the look on her eyes which also took away all the tiredness in my body, seeing my kids happy is all I need to feel contented. I also dropped by bes JennyL to bring her some pasta for snack. I decided not to invite anyone so I just deliver snack to some of my friends and family.

As my girls went home before 6pm we started the blowing of candles and eating after they arrived with just me, Ruth, Josh and my Mom. When hubby arrived we went to a nearby Jollibee and ordered mostly desserts because we’re full from Ruth’s birthday foods back home. It’s nice to dine in fast-food after dinner time as people are fewer and the staff is relaxed. We really had a nice time there because we’re not in a hurry; just want our kids to enjoy the moment. Ruth turns 12 today and it’s her final year of being a girl. Next year she’ll enter secondary school and teenage years but for now I want to enjoy my first baby before she turns into a young lady!

:WS - Mom's 77th Birthday!

>> Monday, June 1, 2009

Mom celebrated her 77th birthday last Saturday the 30th of this month. It's her happiest birthday to date as the gift she has received from God surpassed all material gifts. God has given her another chance to see the beautiful creations of God. She's even happier when our close relatives went all the way from Laguna to greet Mom! They brought many foods you'll think they're the host :-) Actually we didn't invite anyone but we cooked spaghetti, afritada, barbeque and lots of dessert. All of our guests brought some kind of food like maja mais, kare-kare and many more.

:Food Friday - Spaghetti

>> Friday, May 29, 2009

My entry for today is one of my favorite snack - spaghetti, well I love all forms and kinds of pasta and because I love it it's also one of my specialtes. My kids would always tell me whenever I cooked spaghetti that it tastes better than Jollibee lol!

Kids always compare anything that they eat with Jollibee, McDo and KFC, funny! Well this is not my cooking it's one of the foods that we ate this lunchtime. It's Berry's birthday (my senior boss’ daughter) on Sunday and she ordered KFC chicken and brought this spaghetti which is actually different from my saucy pasta but tastes yummy too with lots of cheese and ground meat!

Sorry guys for the not-so clear shot as my battery run out of life and I'm too hungry to switch battery and repeat the shot! This will do for now!

Happy Food Friday to all, enjoy your weekend!

Cooking With My Bro’s Kids

>> Monday, February 9, 2009

Got a call from big brother and he asked me to cook something for his younger daughter Mitch. She’s having a birthday celebration tomorrow Feb. 10. Mitch is his third kid and the youngest girl in the family, the same age as my Gengen. They wanted me to cook macaroons for Mitch’ friends and we decided to use oven toaster instead of my gas range because I’m going to cook in their house.

I have plenty of stock supplies of dessicated coconut and paper cups which my officemate bought for me in a baking supplies store in Blumentritt. It costs me little because I bought my supplies at wholesale costs so I want to use it for my family’s birthdays. They just bought some other ingredients and we started mixing at 9pm. Oh well I’ve mixed a lot that’s good for 300 plus goodies so I left them baking the remaining mixture, hope they will take care not to burn it lol! My nieces and nephews really love the food that I always cook especially leche flan and macaroons and I enjoy it!

: Food Friday - Birthday Cake

>> Friday, January 23, 2009

This a left-over cake from hubby's birthday yesterday! It's from Goldilocks and my kids love the three-layered cake with different flavors of choco, strawberry and vanilla as can be seen in the pic above! It's also the cake of my daughter Gen on her last birthday January 12 this year! Actually they love the taste of this Neapolitan Cake the reason why I bought again for hubby's birthday! They want a repeat performance lol!

Happy Friday to all! Enjoy your weekend;)

His Birthday!

>> Thursday, January 22, 2009

It’s my hubby’s birthday today but we’ve celebrated it last Sunday at the church joining his birthday with Gen. We cooked pancit bihon and canton and just had it with bread and soft drinks. It was a simple birthday but celebrated happily with all our brethren present because it’s Sunday. We have a habit in our church to celebrate each birthday with cooked pancit, spaghetti, lomi, sopas or anything that will feed us all lol! We just served this with cakes, biko or bread and presto we’ll feast on it. If the celebrant don’t have enough money we chipped in to raise needed amount, that’s how we do it just to make the birthday celebration happy.

Today he planned to buy pancit for his co-employees in Automatic Center but instead bought lechon manok to save time and effort in picking up pancit. For us we’ll just have dinner near the place where we works and will bring something for the kids as the place was too far for them to travel at night. Anyway we’ve already celebrated it last Sunday so they just told us to buy birthday cake. They really love cakes!
