Three Cool Alternatives To Getting a Degree

>> Tuesday, June 11, 2019

Vintage Mic
You are fresh out of high school or just tired of your job and at a crossroads. College and trade schools can be good options but they are pricey and don’t appeal to you. You want something that sounds a little more exciting, something that will motivate you to jump out of bed on workdays. Fortunately, you do have choices.

Apprenticeships

People tend to associate apprenticeships with industries like construction or dental hygiene but there is much more available than that. Creative industries are rife with apprenticeships where you can become an audio engineer or culinary artist. Audio engineering can lead to a career in the music industry, radio or television broadcasting, sporting events, even the movies. Culinary arts can take you into restaurants, party venues or even around the world on cruise ships.

Internships

Working for your dream company may be in reach as long as you are willing to intern first. Many programs are aimed at college students, but not all. Find a workplace that interests you and see if they offer adult intern opportunities; even if no formal program exists you may be able to talk them into creating a place for you. Being an intern gives you lousy pay temporarily, but it gives you training and connections that can help your future permanently. An internship is like an audition. It can land you a leading role at a company that would never have hired you based on your resume.

Entrepreneurship

Determine what you love to do, then figure out a way to monetize it. If you sell the business later the abilities and experience you’ve gained will still pay off. Almost any skill can translate into a business. Private ski instructors often make their whole year’s wages in half a year and are off all summer. An efficient house cleaner can make a week’s wages in just three days, which adds up to four-day weekends all year round.

Why You Should Take Your Court-Ordered Courses Online

>> Thursday, December 13, 2018

If you have recently found yourself facing criminal charges, then you might have been instructed by the judge to take certain courses as a part of your sentencing. For example, you might have to take anger management or decision making courses. There are often local options for taking these classes, but you can always take them online, too. These are some of the reasons why you might be better off taking your court-ordered classes online rather than in a classroom setting in your local area.

Avoid Transportation Issues

Even though you might be ready and willing to take your court-ordered decision making course, you might have a hard time taking it locally due to transportation-related issues. If you don't have a car or a driver's license and if you don't live in a community where there are a lot of public transportation options, then you might struggle to get back and forth to your classes. If you take them online, though, you can do them from home without worrying about arranging for transportation at all.

Save Money

Try checking out online options for taking your court-ordered classes. You might have already spent a lot of money on court fines, legal representation and other costs associated with your criminal charges, so you could be hoping to save money on these classes. You may be able to find cheaper rates online if you shop around.

Make Taking Your Classes More Convenient

Depending on your schedule and the things that you're responsible for, you might have a hard time fitting your court-ordered classes into your routine. Taking your courses online will make this a lot easier, since you can generally take them when it's convenient for you rather than having to take them on a set day and at a set time.

If you have been ordered by a judge to take court-ordered classes, you don't necessarily have to take them locally. Instead, you may be able to take them online. This might be an option for you to check into for the reasons listed above, but make sure that you consult your attorney first to make sure that it's a good option for you.

Finding The Right Preschool In The Washington Area

>> Tuesday, October 9, 2018

If you live in the Washington area and want to find a great preschool for your child, there are a few things you can do to find the place. It is important to keep in mind, however, that new preschools open up at least once a month in most cities, so you should always look for new schools in the area.

Talk To Parents

The first thing you can do is speak with parents in the area. The key here is to talk to as many parents as possible because many of them will have a certain preference when it comes to a great preschool. Find out the name and location of the school, the costs associated with the child going there, and the child's positive behavior now that he/she goes to this specific school.

Go To Many Activities For Young Children

Another thing you can do is go to many activities for young children. These activities are usually sponsored by a preschool or an organization connected to a preschool. This will allow you to get familiar with all the popular preschools in the area, and you may even get a chance to meet staff members from various preschools, too.

Trust The Internet For This One

Another thing you can do is trust the internet and look for preschools in the area via popular search engines. The preschool you decide to visit you have a lot for children, and they should promise parents that all children will be ready to further their education after graduation. One particular preschool in the Washington area that is like this is The Sammamish Montessori School In Redmond.

When thinking where is the best preschool near me? This one should come to mind because they make their education innovative by combining young and old children alike. The old children are able to teach the young, and the young are able to teach the old, too. No other school in the area uses this method.

Whatever preschool you decide on, it is important that your child is happy. This usually solves everything.

Types of Scholarships for Private School Students

>> Friday, July 6, 2018

Between public and private schools and a large number of charter schools popping up across the country, parents have more options than ever before as to where they send their children. Charter schools often offer vouchers and have special programs that bring down the cost of classes. Private schools charge a tuition rate that many parents cannot afford though, which is why they send their kids to public schools. No matter what your financial situation looks like, you'll find scholarships that help you afford the cost of a good private school for your child.

Need Scholarships

Many schools today offer scholarships based on the financial need of their parents. One example is the McKay scholarships Tampa parents can use to send their kids to a private school. You usually need to submit documents that show how much money you and your spouse make each year. If you are a single parent, you may submit your most recent tax records and supply a copy of your more recent pay stubs. These scholarships range in size based on how much financial need your family has. You may need to pay a set amount of pocket, though some scholarships will cover the total cost of tuition.

Merit Scholarships

If your child receives good grades in school, you can look at merit scholarships. Merit scholarships only go to the best and brightest students around. Some programs look at the grades that the student received and how those grades compare to the other students applying for a scholarship. You may find programs that award students financial help based on how well they perform on standardized tests. Some schools even have tests that students will take, which determine their IQ figures and if they would do well in that school.

As a parent, you care about your children and what the future holds for them. Many parents find that private schools offer more opportunities for their kids than other schools do. You can look at both merit and need scholarships to cover the costs of sending your child to one of these schools.

How to Pay for Your Child's Private School

>> Wednesday, June 13, 2018

Scholarships

Public schools receive funding from the government, while private schools rely on grants and donations. Depending on where you live, you may find that local public schools do not receive enough funding and cannot provide as many opportunities for students as other schools can. Though you may think that you cannot afford private school, there are ways you can fund your child's education.

Tax Credits

Regardless of where you live, you can look into tax credits. Many cities and states provide residents with tax credits that allow them to save money when they send their kids to private school. You may receive a voucher that bridges the gap between the amount you can afford to spend and the price charged by the school. Parents can often deduct some of the costs associated with sending their kids to private school when they file their taxes the following year too.

Grants

While you can borrow money from your bank and use your credit cards to pay your child's tuition, you can also look at some of the educational grants that are now available. While some people think that grants are only for college students, some grants are available for younger children too. Grants essentially serve as free money for parents. You can use the funds to pay for your child's tuition as well the school uniforms required and any other supplies your kids might need.

Scholarships

The best way to pay for your child's tuition is with a scholarship. Schools across the nation offer different types of scholarships. One example is the McKay scholarships Tampa residents can apply for that cover all or a portion of their children's tuition costs. Scholarships generally fall into merit and need programs. A merit scholarship is one that goes to a child who demonstrates more merit than his or her peers. These children must pass exams and get good grades. Schools also offer need scholarships for students with a higher financial need. You can look at grants and other funding options when you need help paying private school tuition for your child.

Searching and Knowing Your Career Goal

>> Monday, September 12, 2016

Choosing your career is not that easy. This is the reason why there are career talk and seminars given to high school graduating students to guide them on what they should take up in college. Some of the students have their minds set on particular course as early as when they enter secondary level but most are still not sure on what field they will take. As they’re still young they don’t know exactly what they want in life or what they want to achieve when they finish schooling so educating them with various career fields is really necessary.

I know a student who discovered her dream when she heard a good talk from successful alumni of their school who shared her journey in making her dreams come true. Inspired with the talk the student realized that she has the same dreams and would want to follow the same field of study. Some on the other hand realized where their interest leads to and finally decided on what course to take. In my own experience I helped my own child in deciding what course to take simply by asking her what she wants to do after college, her interest and how she pictures herself working. I explained her every course she asked and finally I hit her soft spot. She chose Industrial Engineering.

Knowing your capabilities and goals in life helps a lot in facing your future. It goes the same when you want to learn how to play musical instruments and what kind should be good for you. Some has the gift of playing every instrument they want to but others are just equipped with knowing only one or two. Well being able to play one kind of musical instrument is good enough as learning music is for me a great gift from God. My daughter who is gifted with a talent in playing various musical instruments started her music journey with a question to me on how to tune an acoustic guitar and it all started then. Her journey started with one curiosity which led to a great blessing of playing good on keyboards, guitar and other musical instruments.

Finding Time to Play Guitar After School Ends

>> Tuesday, March 22, 2016

My dear daughter Gen is busy with her finals that she always sleeps late at night and can’t attend to her personal things at times. She also misses her guitar practice because she can’t find the time to even strum a few chords. Well she promised herself that she’ll give quality time to her musical instruments once she gets all her grades this semester. Engineering courses are really tough to study and I know what she’s going through having walked the same path decades ago when I took Computer Engineering.

It will only be less than two weeks and she can focus on practicing some of her songs using her guitar and the vintage guitar picks she loves dearly. I’m also looking forward to hear when she plays my favorite pieces as sometimes I sing when she strums. It’s not only relaxing but a sweet bonding for the whole family.

Graduation Gift Ideas

>> Friday, February 12, 2016

My niece is graduating from junior high school and she’s thinking carefully what she plans to take and where to study for her senior high school. She’s very competitive and excels not only in academics but extra-curricular activities as well. She’s an athlete playing volleyball and badminton and also very keen on photography. I think she’ll be taking Arts or something related but the school is not yet decided upon. Anyway she can continue studying in her present school if they will offer what she wants for senior high school.

My brother, her Dad is thinking of some nice graduation gifts for her like high school class rings - joyjewelers.com, a branded watch, gadget or some accessories for her favorite sports but my niece wants to choose for her own. Maybe she’ll just choose and tell it to my brother so he can buy what she really wants. I also did the same to my two daughters. I asked them what they want and saved for the specific gadget they want. I also want jewelry for them at that time but they can’t choose because they’re not familiar with jewelries. Maybe when they graduate from college they would want a special ring for the occasion, a college ring or some nice necklace or bracelet. Whatever it will be it will serve as a memorable token from me to them.

My Special Kid

>> Saturday, January 30, 2016

I was talking to my youngest kid the other day and we were thinking of what he might be taking up when he reached college. As of now he’s very amazed at computer codes and html things and thinking of taking up Electronics Communications Engineering or a course that pertains to website graphics. At his age he’s a bit advanced when it comes to computer and at times I’m telling him to slow down a bit and focus on his academics. I’m a little apprehensive at his divided attention between his current subjects and the things that excites his mind.

I was just happy that besides all those things he still maintains his penchant for playing keyboards and keeps up with practicing his musical pieces. He even looked at Yamaha Pro Audio and asked me about it. He’s going to buy his own musical instruments from his savings so he’s thinking carefully what he’s going to buy; after all it’s his own earned money. Josh is really a special one, a computer techie, an artist and a musician as well. Great thing about him is that he’s still very sweet and caring son. Lucky me.

Choosing Your Career

>> Saturday, November 15, 2014

Choosing career need not be too hard if you focus not just on your skills and intelligence but on your passion as well. Many students choose a college course depending on the demands of job employment but others follow the desires of their heart. It’s both acceptable but you should also weigh things before deciding what career to take. For my kids I always tell them to think of what they want to be when they work and with that they can perceive what possible courses would fit not just their desires but their capabilities as well.

My younger daughter who loves music and plays various musical instruments asked me if she could take up music. I told her to think it over as she can study music anytime she wants even after she has finished a college course that would ensure her of work stability in the future. I advised her to think deeper of her goals and dreams and she can take up both if she desires. She’s just very interested and fascinated with music that her attention is focused on having as many instruments as she wants like the acoustic di box at guitar center, new piano or any instrument that fancies her young mind.

Well I’m proud that like my grandfather, uncle and brother she inherited our ancestors’ talent in music and that she can use it in our church. I just hope that her fondness with music continues until she has grown up to be a grown up lady. Her dreams of having a degree in business or engineering will go well with her love for music. It will not in any way complicate with her dreams.

Importance of Books to Children’s Learning

>> Thursday, August 14, 2014

Books are vital for enhancing knowledge and instilling useful information to children. From experience I know that reading books help in developing the children’s mind in whatever field they want to excel. It brings out the best in you in writing, creating fresh ideas and learning several aspects of education and life itself.

This is the reason why starting from preschool level children need to study with specialized books to develop not just their mental abilities but their psychological and social abilities as well. There are millions of books available for our specific needs and requirement and educators see to it that learners will be able to use proper books according to their grade level. Revisions and improvement of books are also given attention to ensure that learning upgrade all the time.

Aside from the books our children use in school they should also be exposed to other books that will enhance their knowledge and skills in the field of arts, music and some other recreational activities. From the day that they can see and identify things they should be given books apt to their age to develop identification of colors, shapes, images and later on alphabets and numbers.

These kinds of books are usually colorful and with attractive presentations as children's book illustrators know perfectly how to get the attention of the children and to entice them to see and read. Most of them create educational books, picture books, cartoons, coloring books, magazines for children and some other form of books that caters to children’s market.

Some authors writes only and have the pictures illustrated by others but most illustrators can write as well. It’s important that they publish quality books for better understanding and learning of children. Oh well it’s one of my dreams too – to write a book for children sharing not just my thoughts and ideas when I was a child but to share my good old stories with nice pictures as well.

Learning Through Modern Innovations in Education

>> Friday, December 27, 2013

Today’s education has a lot to offer to students with desire to learn more than the basic teaching. Modern innovations in technology have reached various walks in life and education is not left behind when we talk of this advanced technology. Since my husband will also be involved in the teaching force when he graduates next year he’s well aware that he needs to learn all current updates on his major subjects.

As he’s majoring in TLE which introduces a different curriculum in secondary schooling he should know everything about electronics, automotive, carpentry, livelihood, refrigeration, cooking, baking and a lot more. Of course music is also one of them and he’s been looking at cool recorder classroom at Musicians Friend which can help him enhance his learning experience in music for teaching his students. Everything that can guide and help in his advancement should be taken in consideration as it will enhance his teaching skills in the process.

My Career and My Dream Job

>> Wednesday, December 4, 2013

Each child has a dream of  his own and even though it may not always come true some better things happen that will somehow realize it. I have always love writing that I’ve dreamed to take up journalism and work as a writer but I took up computer engineering to secure a good employment after college and be able to help my parents as well. The demand was so great then that true to my word it’s a breeze to land a job with my college degree. I have no regrets in choosing a different path from my dreams because it also realized my dream of helping my family and being stable in all the jobs that I got.

But God has a way of making our dreams come true in His own special way and time. I was taught by my best friend to do my writing through online journal and that’s the beginning of my blogging which realized my dream of sharing my thoughts, ideas and anything that is worth writing about. It was great discovering that finally I can do my writing and share it as well globally. It was a bonus that I can earn from it. I count it as one of the blessings of God in my life.

With my new purpose in life and a dream come true I have also augmented our family’s income. I was so blessed not just with a loving family but the opportunity of earning income at home. From then on I became contented with my career never minding if I didn’t reached the level that some of my colleagues have reached because in my heart and mind I’ve been given the best by God, a good job offline using my college degree and online job using God’s given talent to me. God is good all the time.

But actually it’s not all fun and happiness as studying is a big dream that you have to give all your best, your skills, talent and wisdom in order to attain your goal. I’ve been through all those hardships on my Engineering degree and it’s all worth it when I finally graduated. Our academic life is truly one of the most challenging phases that we have to go through in order to climb the first steps of stairs to your dream. Well the papers that we need to finish is really strenuous and will consume more than your waking hours so you need to do not just studying and researching but you have to stay awake until dawn. I was lucky enough to manage it because I love those kinds of works and blessed with enough writing skills but most of my Engineering classmates find it hard to do so.

It shouldn’t be a problem for those who really can’t manage to finish within given time or lack the ability for writing long research and term papers. With the help of essay writing service you get writing assistance on the kind of paper you should finish in due time. Congress Opposes Higher Education – How about You?

With Congress suggesting that college students should be responsible for paying off the deficit through increased interest rates on subsidized Stafford Loans, there is a question as to how valuable actual education is. It seems as if the government is either saying that education is not important or that education should only be for those who can afford it. Whether or not education is worth it may depend on what you believe comes with education and what education should be for. It is here that some people get confused.

Education Should Raise the Poor

For years, the poor have been told that if they just had the right education, they could get out of the poverty cycle. It is quite possible that Congress has recognized the fallacy of this argument as the jobs that have been created in the economy over the last 15 years are among the three lowest paying sectors in America. People with college degrees have a hard time getting these jobs because they are over qualified. Even if they do get a job in one of these sectors, it doesn’t pay for the school debt that the graduate has accumulated, and it is unfulfilling. If education is to help businesses get hirable employees, education in this type of economy becomes a burden to the rich and poor alike.

Capitalism and the Debt

While Congress has no problem with subsidizing corporations and “job creators,” it has an issue with subsidizing students who should earn more money after school than they would have without it. Shouldn’t the idea that corporations will create jobs that will employ people who will pay income taxes carry over to students as well? Students who have a college degree will earn more than people who didn’t go to school, and thus pay more income taxes? Instead, congress seems to have said that students may or may not earn more income and should be responsible for paying off a debt that they did not create at the national level. Those who want to explore more about the business side of the arguments can click here.

Three Reasons to Get an MBA You Haven't Thought Of

>> Monday, July 8, 2013

The Masters running a business Administration degree is among the most versatile degrees available. Unlike a Ph.D. or another masters programs, the MBA isn't tied to a certain future profession. You will be able to start the amount and really join in, using the time to best realize your future potential and locate something that gives a spark in your soul. You don’t need to make up your decision first and after that live with it your entire life.

There’s some risk when we are required to come up with a lifelong decision at this kind of early age. So once I am asked some tips I think someone should do when they are seeking degree after college, It's my job to suggest the MBA program. The procedure for application continues to be streamlined making it easier, too, with business school admissions consulting firms including http://www.amerasiaconsulting.com. You don’t have to fear the method, and you be able to focus on having your work done and becoming the degree. So besides employability, what’s the advantage of an MBA? There are a handful of side important things about getting your MBA that you could not have considered!

Impressive Conversation Topic with a Party

Getting the MBA degree is perhaps all well and good, and will get you noticed by potential employers over someone that does not have their education. But the very fact that there is a higher degree will almost certainly impress others, as well, particularly folks the opposite sex at parties. That should not be overlooked like a very real benefit. Not will still only you be able to talk about your experiences getting this higher-level degree, however you will automatically contain the leg up over dollar-an-hour retail employees who're also mingling from the snack spread. Play them back humbly and act nonchalant, and you'll be good to go.

Read Others Better, Be a Better Person

A serious aspect of an MBA degree is marketing, and learning how to best sell something to a desired audience. Many businesses fail because one’s own prejudices or opinions are weighted too heavily, and also the exact people that will be pumping money into the business are ignored. That is certainly a foolish approach to run a business, and the topics are covered in-depth using your courses inside the MBA program. But these very same techniques and considerations are directly applicable on your everyday life, along with the interactions you have with others. If you disregard the fundamental personality of those you happen to be talking to, you're going to fail at truly connecting. This is not just relevant to romantic interactions, and also to friends as well as family. An MBA degree can, if you let it, allow you to a better person.

Help Your Friends, Be A Colleague

This is not like being the one guy inside your circle of friends who has a truck and it’s moving day. Generally, we all like to help out our friends, so when you have your MBA, you will be the one getting emailed from the friends and family asking you your advice. Perhaps this seems annoying, but think of being able to help you your loved ones with a simple email. You don’t need to go over to their property to feed the fish or drive them to the airport during rush hour, becoming a good friend or relative you just have to write an e-mail back giving some sage advice that you’ve gleaned out of your time in school, and will also be a godsend. Now that’s worth the price of admission alone.
