Things to Consider When Buying Cars for Engineering Firms

>> Tuesday, January 30, 2018

Sponsored Post

I work for an Engineering Consulting firm which caters to government and private clients. We have various projects on detailed design and construction supervision of roads, bridges, flyovers and related projects. As these projects entails frequent site visits for surveys and field investigations we’re required to provide several cars for ease of access to site and fast tracking of work progress. As such we always have a need to designate vehicles to every project according to our client’s requirements. Since my work pertains to administrative works I’m very much aware of how the company chooses the vehicle for every contracted project.

There are things to consider when buying cars for our projects which became our main criteria also whenever we need to purchase when a project starts.

Budget. It should not be too expensive as the company will need more vehicles for operations. There are vehicles that are suited for field work and heavy loads which will not hurt your budget. Company vehicles for field work need not be as glamorous as it will only be used for work.

Size and Capacity. These two are very important when you need a car for location work because the car needs to carry equipment and gadgets to remote site. It will also carry a group of staff to do the work. It will have to carry it all in one round as travel is usually a long trip for site workers.

Safety Features. As in every field and walks of life protection should be ensured so we need to choose vehicles that have the best secured features and capabilities to take our Engineers to their site location safely without worries. Make sure that before purchasing your desired car it should undergo hands-on tests of its safety features.

For help in choosing the perfect car for our company’s need we can check out online sites like cars.com  for the cars that we need if we don’t have time to go around car dealers on foot. It’s easier and we can compare brands and prices easily.

How to Prepare Your Car for a Winter Road Trip

>> Thursday, January 25, 2018

Winter road trip tips
Travelling in winter is completely different to any other season. The snowy roads and bitterly cold weather make driving a challenge, and getting stuck on the side of the road is something all winter road trippers dread. Luckily, there are some simply checks and preparations you can carry out to make sure your car is up for the challenge. By following these easy strategies, you can relax knowing your car is prepared for the wintery road trip ahead.

Check Your Battery Your battery can lose as much as 60% of its power when the temperature drops to freezing. The last thing you want is to be stuck on the side of the road in the snow with a dead battery! Get your battery power checked, and if it’s more than two years old, consider replacing it with a new one.

Pack Jumper Cables

These should be in your car at all times, but they are especially important for your winter road trip. If your battery does die mid-trip, these will be a life saver. And even if you don’t end up needing them yourself, you might come across a fellow traveller in need of a jump start. So make sure you have these packed.

Check Your Antifreeze

Antifreeze (or coolant) will keep your engine’s fuel from freezing so your car can start. It also protects the engine from rust and corrosion more than plain water does. Make sure you’re topped up with antifreeze and if possible, try and buy a non-toxic variety. This will protect the wildlife on your travels.

Consider All-Weather Tires

It’s essential to check your tire tread is in good shape before going on your winter road trip. If you tread is looking worn, it’s important to change your tires before you go. If you can afford it, consider switching to all-weather tires. These will give you noticeably better traction in the snow and ice, which you will almost certainly face on your winter trip. Make sure you also know the proper technique for driving in the snow and ice to keep your family safe.

Protect Your Paint Job

Road salt can seriously ruin your car’s paint job, and even lead to corrosion. Luckily, you can buy a paint-on sealant which will protect your car from salt and grit during your road trip. Ask your local mechanic for their best recommendation for your specific car model.

Important Final Checks

Before you and your family set off on your winter road trip, carry out these final checks to make sure your car is in tip-top shape:

  • Indicator fluid
  • Brake fluid
  • Transmission fluid
  • Windshield wiper fluid
  • Power steering fluid

A winter road trip can be a great adventure for the whole family. Make sure you make the most out of it by fully preparing your car for the journey. For more useful tips on how to prepare your car for your road trip, as well as essential information on planning and driving techniques, check out this in-depth post.

What to See in Murfreesboro, Tennessee

>> Tuesday, January 8, 2013

While Nashville is considered to be the primary tourist attraction for Tennessee being the City of Music, there is still much more to see and explore in the state of Tennessee. One of the options is Murfreesboro, the county seat of Rutherford County. It is Tennessee’s fastest growing city and home to Middle Tennessee State University, the largest undergraduate university in the state.

Booking at
Sleep Inn Hotel in Murfreesboro Tennessee would be a great advantage for those visiting the Middle Tennessee State University as it is conveniently located within the area. You can also explore various attractions like the Stones River National Battlefield. The Stones River Mall is also a walking distance from the hotel.

Music is not lost in this county seat though, as it hosts several music-oriented events annually, including the Main Street Jazzfest, which is presented by Middle Tennessee State University's School of Music. For over 30 years, “Uncle Dave Macon Days” has celebrated the musical tradition of Uncle Dave Macon. This annual July event includes national competitions for old-time music and dancing.

Stones River National Battlefield

Stones River National Battlefield is a 580-acre area that was used for battle during the Civil War, located about 30 minutes south of Nashville. If you are in the area, it is worth the visit. They have an informative visitor's center (along with a well provisioned gift shop), a small driving tour, and excellent park rangers.

Stones River Mall

This is the premier shopping destination of Rutherford County and Middle Tennessee, anchored by Sears, Dillard's, JC Penney, and Goody's. It features over 50 specialty stores such as Gap, Starbucks, Finish Line, LensCrafters, and Spencer Gifts. It is a shopping haven for locals and tourists alike.

Murfreesboro/Rutherford County Center for the Arts

Located just 30 minutes east of downtown Nashville, artists from around the country present their work at this visual and performing arts venue. The Center for Arts is part of the beautiful Carnegie Library, and consists of a large gallery and auditorium.

Changing art exhibits and musical performances run throughout the year. A range of theater productions and children's workshops occur from time to time.

Oaklands Historic House and Museum

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, this antebellum mansion looks much as it did 150 years ago. Once home to Col. Hardy Murfree, for whom the town of Murfreesboro is named, the structure, furnishings and surrounding property provide an authentic view of 19th century America and its war-torn South. During the United States Civil War, both Union and Confederate armies camped and fought here.

About the Author: Martha Blythe is a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University and has explored Murfreesboro during her undergraduate days.

Reasons Why You Should Rent a Villa for Your Next Vacation

>> Friday, December 14, 2012

Many people wish and hope that they can afford to stay in a nice, luxurious resort and spa. If you always wanted to live it up like the celebrities do, then you need to visit the Preferred Escapes website to see what luxury villas they have to offer. You can rent your own luxury condo or villa when you are planning your next vacation. Do you want to whisk yourself away to a country far away? If so, then they have many places you can choose from that are beautiful tropical paradises. You and your loved one will enjoy spending every waking moment on the beautiful, white sandy beaches that line the coast of the islands.

You Don't Have to Do Any Work

When you book your vacation in a warm climate, you can stay in a luxury rental unit and not worry about anything. You can have maids do your laundry, clean the unit and wait on your family hand and foot if you would like. You can also have a professional chef to cook all your meals so you don't have to head out to a restaurant for every meal. This will save you a lot of money if you want to rent a luxury rental unit but don't have the money like a celebrity does. You can feel as though you are a celebrity when you wake up in the morning and look out over your own private beach area. If you decide to rent a luxury rental unit, you can ask your closest friends if they would want to pitch in for some of the rent and each person can have their own room. This is much more cost effective if you want to live it up like a celebrity but don't have the cash to pay for an entire luxury villa.

Things You Can Do During Your Stay

There are many things you can do when you stay in a luxury villa. First off, you'll be flying to a different country, which means you can tour all the local hotspots and historical sites. You can also go swimming, lay out on the beach, and dine in the finest restaurants. You can head to the clubs at night with your friends or you can relax in your hot tub while gazing out at the sunset. You will be fully relaxed once you're ready to fly back home after you stay in a luxury villa.

How to Save Money on Your Next Trip

>> Saturday, October 13, 2012

It is nice to travel some time but the cost of it can bring a massive headache. While it may be tempting to just charge everything on your credit card, the bills will come in sooner or later and that you can wind up paying for it for a few months. Going out of the country is deemed to be expensive because of airline tickets, accommodations, your pocket money for incidental expenses and shopping and the fees for tourist sites and other activities.

When you think about how much money you’ll need to spend just for a few days of fun, you might end up cancelling a planned trip. But looking at a different perspective, there’s another way to enjoy a dream vacation without having to spend a lot of money. The idea of budget traveling has been around for years but it recently gained popularity especially to young professionals and college students who are looking into new experiences.

Do you want to know how you can save money on your next trip?

Start off with your airfare tickets. Avoid going on a trip during peak season because prices for just about anything from airfare to accommodations can go up. Book for a trip during the low months and expect that airfare tickets will be cheaper. If traveling around Southeast Asia, you can save a great deal of money by booking with a budget airline. Most of these airline companies offer affordable flights but with less perks; the important thing is that it can get you to your destination at half the price.

When looking for a hotel to stay, compare rates from different websites. The best way to find a great deal is to do your own research and browse several reservation sites. Some also offer the Best Price Guarantee which means they are willing to give you a refund in case another site offers a lower rate. If you’re not picky when it comes to accommodations you can also opt for the affordable alternatives such as backpackers’ inn or hostels. It may not have the amenities usually provided by hotels but you’ll have a bed to lay on at night after a tiring day.

Another way to save on money is to plan your own itinerary. Know the best places to visit and locate the ones with minimal or no entrance fee. Some tourist attractions such as parks may not be popular for the usual travelers but this is often free and the best place to have a close interaction with the locals. The idea when it comes to traveling should not be about the cost but the experience that each travel destination brings.

Maximizing your Car's Capacity

>> Friday, October 12, 2012

We love going to far places for our camp meeting fellowship every December and holy week season. On our travel we bring everything that we need for 3-4 days stay especially if the place is located on remote areas or if far from market or stores. On these occasions the owners of our transport see to it that all baggage is properly arranged to maximize space and they do this first on the top of their cars with the help of racks. If not for those we would not be able to transport all the baggage that we need.

For those who loves to travel and want to maximize the capacity of their cars in transporting several baggage it’s a necessity to have roof racks like yakima racks to help organize the carrying of all the baggage . It will help you manage all your things needed for your travel trip and when your car has factory installed side rail it’s easier to mount these racks.

Spending Long Weekends Near the Mountains

>> Saturday, June 23, 2012

I love weekends because we’re all free from work and school activities. This is the only time that family can eat, play and bond together for the whole day without the pressure of workload and assignments from school. On other times we would spend the weekends in my MIL’s house because they’re located near the mountains and going there is like having a vacation in the province except that it only takes us more than an hour to be there. When we go there for a couple of days on long weekends we pack our clothes, personal things and extra foam mattress so we can sleep comfortably anywhere in that house.

The whole ground floor of the house is air-conditioned so sleeping on foams on any corner of the house would be so comfortable and convenient. They just turned it on when we’re there as it would be so costly to have the whole house air-conditioned and we only do that on hot or summer days. Anyway when you go outside at night you’ll feel the cold breeze around the area and it’s not that surprising because they live near the mountains. The kids love the place and when they’re free from homework on long weekends we grab the opportunity to spend our free time there.

I’m not really sure if he will need one as he wanted us to hire a car and driver for him so I guess he can also let the driver use it lol!

Easy Tracking

>> Monday, December 5, 2011

My church friend works in a trucking company and he’s one of the employees that handle one of the 10-wheeler trucks. He’s been in that kind of job for several years now and he’s very experienced on driving and handling the truck on short and long distance trips. Since the company has several trucks to handle, maintain and monitor the management talked about having gps for trucks so they can easily track vehicles on instances that they face trouble or road accidents.

It will also be helpful in meeting their time deadlines as they would know exactly the progress of delivery and travel hazards. There are more advantages that will go with the purchase of this gadget but they have to plan their budgetary allocation first before they begin the new improved monitoring system. In time they will have easy and dependable tracking on all their trucks and vehicles.

Finding His Way

>> Sunday, July 10, 2011

My brother always travel for his construction business and outreach ministry in his church. Most of the times his journey involves going to town in faraway provinces. He usually travels by ferry boat and land transportation that’s why when he has his own car he see to it that he has a road map of the place he’s visiting. Having the road map is a lot of help but it’s also good to have those truckers used by many travelers on their journey. It will surely help in finding his way to remote places that need his helping hand on their outreach ministry.

It’s smaller than regular planes and can accommodate less people up to 19 only. It’s also known as business jet and aside from carrying special people it can also be used in other purposes like express parcel deliveries, evacuation of casualties or transporting government officials or special armed forces. Preparing for Summer Camp Meeting

>> Friday, April 15, 2011

It’s only few days more and we’re going to our summer camp fellowship meeting in the hills of Antipolo. I remember having the same camp meeting near Tagaytay City and preparing our 4-day church and camp things with a strict list because the location is far from city. Since the camp site is miles away from home and the travel would take us hours of travel we need to have a general check up of the car to prevent trouble in the middle of the road.

Our Pastor is so keen about car trouble that he’s been thinking about getting a roadside assistance plan so he’ll not worry about getting help when he encountered car breakdown in the middle of expressway. He’ll be assured that no matter what happened there’s always someone who will rescue and give him assistance. This is just one of his preparations for the long travel he’ll have to make with his family next week. We’re looking forward to our summer camp fellowship and hope everything will work well.

Freestyle New York

>> Tuesday, March 29, 2011

My friend was excited to see her sisters after a year of not seeing them. They were based in New York for several years now and she makes it a point to visit them at least once a year. She now owns a small architectural consultancy firm which has clients abroad and her business is going so well that she can afford to be on travels frequently. She loves tours and New York Attractions seem to be her favorite itinerary whenever she’s on vacation with her sisters. She values her time so much that she’s always taking advantage of tour packages to be able to round up her favorite places in New York in scheduled hours.

Now Freestyle New York makes it so convenient and easy for tourists and sightseers to see NYC their way. They offer one flat rate for multiple double-decker bus tours, tickets to museums and cruises, airport transfers and vouchers for dining. You just pick 3 or 5 menu items then you can use it to their list of entities. No second thoughts on the place to see as the tickets are accepted at all entities so you will not be pressured on the list of places to see. You’ll enjoy their Freestyle menu and go where you want and when you want.

TC: Green - Picnic Grove Park

>> Thursday, March 24, 2011

for fun and learning
"GREEN" (Plants, Cloths, Cars, Toys, Houses,...)

This is our favorite place when we want to relax and rest from the bustle of city life.  This is Tagaytay Picnic Grove, a park with a breathtaking view of Taal lake and volcano.  This park is nestled  at the slopes of Tagaytay Ridge and has a mild temperature because of the high altitude. All around the park are  lushes of green plants, trees and grass that's why I've chosen this one as my entry to Thursday Challenge.  This place is a popular destination for students on field trips, couples, tourists, local and foreign visitors and groups like us.  It has cottages, camp areas where we frequent most, playgrounds, restaurants and function halls.  We often stay on  picnic tables and sheds and do some grill cooking there.

Click on the above title badge and visit some of 'green-themed' photo entries!

This is the kids' photo on one of our last travel/get together in Tagaytay Picnic Grove.  We're there to join our husband-minister for their discipleship seminar.  After having our lunch we roam around the place and stayed at the wide area for playing, kite flying and for picnic.  We just let the kids do what they want.  They played, ran, bounded, jumped and keeps on moving as if energy will last until evening lol! I just stood there and took some shots of the funny kids. My 3 kids were here too!

Grand Cayman Vacation Villas

>> Tuesday, February 1, 2011

The breeze is getting colder these days on this tropical country and I love it. It’s not frequent that we get cold weather like this and I know this will change next month preparing for the summer season. Speaking of summer we’re thinking of having a family vacation in the oceanfront hometown of my husband. Hope the kids will be available soon so we can get an early schedule. I always look forward staying for some days near the beach; I guess it’s always like that for me. I would always choose beach vacation than roaming around various places.

The idea of staying in some nice Grand Cayman vacation villas is a treat for me much more if I’m really there to enjoy beautiful beachfront villas with my family. It’s always been a dream vacation for me to stay in places like that and this one has a lot to offer to complete your dream. With direct flights, superb roads, nice facilities, great accommodations, internet access, cable tv, rental cars and help services you can request. It’s like having the convenience and comfort of your home while vacationing.

Getting Ready for the Long Travel

>> Monday, December 21, 2009

Few days from now we’ll be heading to our camp site on the highlands of Indang, Cavite near Tagaytay City and we’re so happy that despite of not having our car restored to its normal state we were able to hire my brother’s extra car. It’s actually a better one as it’s a pickup car that’s so perfect to carry heavy loads and if you can imagine our essentials, food, beddings and clothings for a four-day stay at the camp you would probably say that it’s the best to carry on long and heavy baggage travel.

Last Sunday our church mate who knows a lot about car maintenance checked and fixed our break, tail and park lights. We’ve also noticed a not-so good wiper so we’re also fixing them up. We should be thinking and checking all possible fixing as we don’t want to catch trouble on the road. We always follow the blow bag rule which is the acronym that stands for checking up battery, lights, oil, water, brake, air (for tires) and gasoline whenever we travel for long distance destination. It’s also best if we can have travel insurance for a safer and worry-free travel local and international.

Spend Your Vacation in Egypt!

>> Monday, November 23, 2009

My SIL is a very hardworking woman and after a year-long overwork she would spend vacation on wherever her fancies may take her. Because she lives in Great Britain and she miss the tropical country where she was born she always spend her vacation by the beach mostly here in the Philippines or in some countries with splendid beach vacation package. She loves traveling to different places where she can really see magnificent view and rest her tired body in a beach vacation house. I keep thinking that maybe all working individuals are the same in some ways that after working so hard they really need some break from it.

It’s a kind of relaxation for employees and workers when they spend some days or week away from the bustling city of business districts. Since we can’t have full resting time in our house we should take our vacation away from home. I learned from SIL that it’s great to spend vacation in Egypt as the weather there is great with an all-year round sunshine and plenty of tourist spots. Actually they’ve spent a month vacation there four years ago and been planning to be back again. Anyway you can take advantage of their cheap Egypt Holidays when you booked for May, June, November and December. You can be sure to have affordable flights and accommodations.

There are many ways on how you can keep within your budget limit as it’s very affordable to eat in the restaurants there. You can just book for just a bed and your breakfast and spend the whole day and evening visiting valley of the kings, the very famous Pyramids of Egypt and have dinner in superb rest. If you’re the sporty type you can join the golf courses or have some scuba diving. Great vacation for all types of people. Well just visit ULookUBook and book your dream Eqypt holiday now!
