Camp Meeting at Villa Dominga Forest Resort

>> Tuesday, December 30, 2008

We had a fulfilling 3-day camp meeting fellowship at Villa Dominga Forest Resort. The place was so big we have to assign pair of young people to oversee the kids' activities all day long because they might get lost. It's a place for retreat, fellowship, vacation, swimming and many others. We've talked with the owner and she's a very nice person, very humble and accommodating. She even attended our fellowship on the second day and made a nice and touching comment on us. My sis Redge and I promised to promote her place in our sites, it's not that hard really because the place is really nice. Actually we've already reserved our holy week fellowship there.

Here's a tour of the place:

BT&T and DSI Christmas Party

>> Saturday, December 27, 2008

Recap on our Christmas Party last December 23

I was already on-leave that day to pack our 3-day things for the camp meeting but I've attended the party 'coz they might ask why I didn't come. As I'm the Admin/HR officer I must see to it that everyone will be seated and served properly in the party. Because some of our employees were designated in other branches they were not well acquainted with other employees, they just know few staff including me. I'm super duper pressured as we will be going to Indang Cavite few hours after the party.

Anyway as my sis always tells me I'm a super woman I turned on my costume and did the job as fast as I could lol!, not a single second wasted! Before I left the house at 6pm everything was ready, all five travelling bags, first aid kits, utensils, food and emergency kit for the whole family and car. Hubby will arrive at 1am because their store will close at 12midnight so I see to it that he'll just rest when he comes home because he'll drive for long hours.

First time we held our party at Gerry's Grill which is just a few meters away from our office, very convenient for all of us and for me also as I'm coming from our house. As always there are lots of games and raffles but everything was well taken care of by the party coordinator. She just assigned me the job of picking up game participants so I exempt myself lol! It was a party for two sister companies DSI and BT&T.

I was a bit dizzy then from doing so much work since early morning so I just visited my old friends' tables from DSI company where I've been employed for 10 years before I transferred to BT&T. I had a lot of close friends there and only a few were left. I missed them so much and because I'm counting this party as my last I went to their tables as soon as the games ended.

It was a lucky day for those who won cash prizes ranging from 1,000 to 10,000 and as always again I wasn't lucky enough but I'm used to it, anyway all were given an attendance prize so actually no one will be going home empty-handed. As for me my mind was set on our travel to Indang so when Cecile offered a ride home Flor and I immediately went with her.

Birthday At My Work

>> Monday, December 22, 2008

Just to celebrate my birthday with my office mates I've ordered pancit canton at Joey's and hired someone to grill 3 kilos of liempo for our lunch. Since it's also our little party at the main office some brought additional food to complete the menu. It's only an eat-together celebration with a little raffle of small gifts unlike last year where we had a bigger celebration in our adjacent office. We're busy anyway so we didn't planned anything. Anyway we really have plenty of food and some of the excess food were brought home.

I was happy that our friend Mimin (in blue green shirt) came home from Abu Dhabi to spend Christmas here, she's working there for about one year only but she was given a chance to have a vacation with free tickets from her boss, lucky girl! She's there at my birthday cum office party and just seeing her again made me a lot happier! I missed her you know! She's one of my closest friend and my office seatmate :-) we call ourselves escalera sisters!

Here's some pics of us as well as our food:

It's My Birthday!

>> Sunday, December 21, 2008

Woke up this morning feeling fresh and vibrant. I thanked God that He gave me the best things in life, well best for me as I don't ask too much in my life. Having a loving husband, adorable kids, understanding mother and in-laws, thoughtful siblings and true friends are a lot to thank for. I also have a warm community in my home church, kind brethren and a pastor that's been like a second father to me. My wish would be more inspirational write ups that will inspire people, strong faith to keep me closer to God and peace within me and my family. I've seen this nice and cool messages on birthdays and I'd like to share this with you!

Trophies For Remembrance

In every competition you’ll always end either a winner or a loser but that’s part of the game. Actually it’s not important if you’ve win or lose as long as you’ve done your best and you played fair enough. I like sports and seeing a game always excites me, for the players it’s even more exciting if you’ve won the first place because there’s a trophy that will serve as a remembrance of your success.

I’ve seen trophies like basketball trophies, volleyball trophies and many others but what excites me the most is our trophy in bowling in our company friendly game competition last 1996. We won the best of the best bowling competition and I was happy that I’m a part of the yellow team.

Birthday Gift For Myself

>> Wednesday, December 17, 2008

Took a leave from office to have an early shopping and to buy a new digicam in Hidalgo, Quaipo where there are shops that sells various known brands of cameras and its accessories. It was my first time to go there and bes Jen accompanied me to her favorite stores there in Hidalgo. Some shops were not yet opened so after a shop or two we proceeded to her suki at Henry's and got so excited seeing all their displays there.

All I want is an upgrade from what I'm using presently (Canon 3.2mp). I was happy to know that their price is really good, a big savings to my pocket lol! I've picked Canon Powershot A470 because it's just small, perfect for innocent shots at my food on the table when dining out and perfect for me because I love bringing my cam almost anywhere.

I bought a nice camera bag too at Fans Digital, just right for my small digicam, small charger, my flash drives and memory cards, I can even sneak in my wallet and mobile phone there.

What a nice shopping day of buying gift for my birthday on Sunday the 21st (fruits from my blogging income). Had some lunch at Max's resto and Jen brought me to 168 to have some shopping there. I don't go to that place because people were always crowded but since I have my friend with me I feel comfy enough.

Time Out!

>> Monday, December 15, 2008

We had a nice breakfast last weekend at Jollibee, Ed insisted that I took some time out from my kitchen this weekend much to my kids' approval because they really want to go out every weekend. My kids always go with me on my weekend market and grocery, they took it as a form of lamierda. They love going to many places, small or big, groceries and malls, just as long as we're together- sweet!

Anyway my Mom had an early breakfast but she succumbed to my hubby's persuasive asking.

You know I love cooking for my family, it's quite a pretty hobby for me but it feels good sometimes when you just wake up in the morning, ride the car and order your breakfast lol!

After having breakfast we proceeded to our scheduled shopping and marketing. Oh boy I have three children with me and I'll buy three clothes for each one of them. After 3 hours of rounding up the place we were satisfied with our good buys. I've got shoes and three clothes for each of my kids and 2 for me and hubby, guess that's fine for now, I'll have some additional on other stores. I'll just have to check my list for the things needed for our camp meeting, things like extra mat and off lotion and many other protective materials for the cold weather in Tagaytay and on some mosquitoes if ever. Happy with their new things for school party and camp fellowship we finished our shopping with donuts and fruit shakes!

: Food Friday-Veggie Ground Pork in Red Sauce

>> Friday, December 12, 2008

This is ground pork cooked in tomato sauce with baguio beans and chayote. I was smiling to myself when I was cooking this food because originally I want to use potato and not chayote. I found out that I run out of potato and I can't find a nearby store who sells. It was very early in the morning so I just looked at my vegetable stocks and when I found chayote I immediately replaced the missing ingredient.

We don't usually use chayote in thick red sauce like this but I just experimented it and my kids loved it! My recipe is also very nutritious isn't it? How about you, have you tried it?

Enjoy your weekend and Happy Friday friends;)

Safety First!

>> Thursday, December 11, 2008

My brother runs a construction company where danger is not that far from them especially if they’re working on a multi-storey building. Being with this business for so many years he knows perfectly the dangerous part of construction and of course the delicate parts of the body that should be given extra protection.

When I asked him what's the most crucial parts that must be protected by safety equipment he answered head and face protection. So when my brother starts a delicate part of the construction he see to it that his staff in-charge must have their hard hats, headgear, bump camps and all safety gears needed to ensure safety.

:WW-Paintings (Nipa Hut By The River)

>> Wednesday, December 10, 2008

This painting reminds me of our old wall paintings when I was very young displayed in our old ancestral spanish house. When our house was renovated in late '70s I can still remember it hanging in our second floor living room but as the years passed by we just decided to store it. When I saw this painting I fell in love with the sceneries of old years and the artists really gave it an old-times ambiance, makes me yearn for my uncle's house in the province.

Guess I'll share this with you guys together with another painting in Moments of My Life!

The Spirit of BEAR-iuca

>> Sunday, December 7, 2008

Got this from my other blog Moments of My Life and thought of joining My Crossroads here, anyway Mariuca's bear is cute :-). Just join us if you want!

-START COPYING HERE-

Once upon a time, in a land far, far away, there lived a powerful Genie Princess named Mariuca who was known throughout the land as the friendliest, most popular blogger in the blogosphere kingdom. Adored and admired by international visitors and commentators from around the world, the Genie Princess travels the blogosphere on her magical flying carpet, always looking for ways to share her good fortune with others.

Over the past two years of blogging, Mariuca has met so many new people, from all walks of life and all over the world, each one bringing a little of their culture and lifestyle when they visit and comment on Mariuca’s two sites. So on her 2nd Blog Anniversary, Mariuca wanted to celebrate with all of her international blogosphere buddies by hosting a bear-naming contests at Wishing On A Falling Star and Mariuca’s Perfume Gallery and to pass her two lucky, cuddly teddy bears along to the winners who came up with the best names.

On the opposite side of the world, from the moment Roxy (the prolific Roxiticus Desperate Housewives blogger) and her sweet daughters London and Maddie saw the teddy in his personalized t-shirt and blue muffler at Wishing On A Falling Star, they knew that he needed to come to live with their family in Mendham, NJ. The three New Jersey girls named him immediately and burst into a wonderful song for BEAR-iuca:

BEAR-iuca, BEAR-iuca, amazing teddy cheer.
BEAR-iuca, BEAR-iuca, we’d love you to come live here!

Mariuca received 16 possible names for the Mariuca Teddy Bear, making it hard for the Genie Princess to choose just one…then Alakazam! A bolt of lightning delivered the perfect way to share BEAR-iuca’s good fortune to bloggers around the globe. While the soft, stuffed, cuddly BEAR-iuca is on his way to live with Roxy, London, Maddie and Rex in the Roxiticus Valley, the Spirit of BEAR-iuca is racing through the blogosphere to bring happiness, holiday cheer, and beary best wishes to everyone who welcomes him into their online home and passes along the BEAR-iuca good luck charm to ten friends.

Please play along with us by following a few important rules:

1. Add your site(s) to the list once you have received the Spirit of BEAR-iuca badge of teddy bear cheer.
2. Pass along the Spirit of BEAR-iuca and his cheery badge to as many people as you like.
3. Leave a comment HERE once you’ve passed on the Spirit of BEAR-iuca.
4. Once Roxy and the Genie Princess have visited your site to make sure your links are complete and proper, you will then be added to the Master List.
4. To ensure everyone receives equal link benefit, please UPDATE your list regularly!

:Food Friday

>> Friday, December 5, 2008

It's cake once again and this time it's a Mango Mambo from Las Paellas. Actually I was ordering blueberry cheesecake but unfortunately they run out of stock so I ordered this mango flavored cake instead. What a nice shift coz i found this refreshingly yummy cake so delightful because it's a perfect match to steak, it erases the strong-flavored taste of Pork Andaluz and gave me a feeling of satisfaction of having eaten a fresh fruity cake.

Sorry for the not so clear pic because I used a mobile cam instead of a digicam, sometimes I got shy and feel a little bit awkward to take pictures of food on restaurants because I don't like the stares of the people dining there lol!

Happy Friday to all! Enjoy your weekend;)

Photo Book

>> Thursday, December 4, 2008

I was so excited by JennyL’s news that there’s a site that makes photo book for just the price of shipping fee. It’s actually a promo price and she told me to prepare at least 20 pages of 8 x 8 picture, a collage or a digiscrap will be good for the photo book. She also suggested that I try scrapbooking so I can use it for my kids’ album. It was a very pretty idea and I’ll do it next year when my work loads become lighter. As of now I’ll just do simple collage arrangement for the photo book.

Holiday is coming and online shopping will be a big help for those people who don’t have much time to spend days in malls and stores to buy things for their family and friends. I also have the habit of searching online sales and great deals because I want to spend my money wisely this holiday season. I’ve found some nice Dansko shoes which offers variety of goods for the whole family starting from infants. I actually love the pink shoes for infants.

:Today's Flowers #17

This is White Chrysanthemum picture taken in our church. This is one of my favorite flowers, I started to like this when at the age of 13 I've watched and loved the play titled 'Princess Chrysanthemum'. I can't forget how the leading artist (a student in our school) there played the part of the princess who is as beautiful as this flower with snow white petals and pretty blooms. After that play I asked my Mom if she could buy me a chrysanthemum, since then it's one of my preferred flowers in buying aside from white roses.

See my other entry at Moments of My Life.
