Visiting New York’s Best Places

>> Thursday, August 6, 2009

My friend who has resigned from our company was doing great in other countries doing some consulting on architectural projects. Once in two months she travels in Asian countries to supervise her projects and to meet her clients abroad. She was very happy with what she’s doing right now as she really wants traveling around places. Now she told me through instant messaging that she’s vacationing in her sister’s house in New York. Her elder sister is a permanent resident there for more than years now and she wanted to see her sisters once in a while. They miss each other as the elder sister seldom visits her family here in the Philippines.

Since my architect friend wanted to enjoy her vacation in the Big Apple she was treated by her sister to New York Sightseeing so she’ll get to see the beautiful views of New York city and its nice attractions. She joined the sightseeing tours of Citysights which offers exciting packages of enjoying museum visits, harbor cruises, helicopter tours, motor coach trips and many more. Believe me she really enjoyed the hop-on, hop-off bus tours they provided. Being an architect by profession and artist by heart led her to seek the lovely sight of magnificent buildings and some of the popular sights there like Statue of Liberty, Empire State, Uptown/Downtown Manhattan City and Top of the Rock. As she told me the places she visited it’s as if I’ve been there to. She’s really having a wonderful vacation because of sightseeing New York’s best places.

Passing IT Certification Exams

My company in my former job deals with contracting services on different field including facsimile and switchboard operations, maintenance of equipment and IT services or any contract that we are qualified to take. I was directly involved in doing bid documents and technical proposals and I’m very much aware that in those proposals that we made the highest percentage was that of the qualifications of our proposed staff. I remember doing bid proposal for all IT Helpdesk operation in one of the prestigious International Bank and they require our proposed personnel to have IT certification for them to give the highest percentage. Not all our proposed personnel have the certification they were looking for so we search for the certified IT personnel for that specific project. That’s how I learned how important certification is for some IT-based position.

Looking back several years ago when we were doing bids the agencies were not so strict in looking for certifications but now you have to line up a qualified and certified IT staff to be able to get high scores in bidding. As I was reading some articles in reuters.com I was able to learn that K Alliance is now a member of CompTIA’s Network of specialized trainers. Being a member is such a privilege as CompTIA provides certification exams for IT personnel and if you’re a member of their network like k alliance you’ll learn the best way on how to gain knowledge and skills for the students to pass the much sought after IT certifications from CompTIA.

It’s really good being a member as CompTIA’s network as K Alliance’s online classes don’t only give quality and comprehensive education but improves their curriculum as well to be able to gain skills and knowledge on how to pass the very important certifications. With K Alliance’s strict standards and high quality curriculums students will have a great percentage of passing and getting their most wanted IT certification.

Farewell Tita Cory!

>> Wednesday, August 5, 2009

I just spent my whole morning and early afternoon watching Madame Cory’s farewell to nation. I’m not the cry baby in watching movies and TV shows but this time the tears just keep on falling as I listen to speeches and messages of Ms. Cory’s family. I’ve been a follower of President Cory from the day I knew her when Ninoy died until now. A follower in the sense that I really appreciate her kind ways and intelligent words derived from her ultimate sense of love for the country and her unwavering faith to God. She’s simply fascinating as coming from a very wealthy family she exudes an aura of being elegantly simple in every way she moves and handles things, yet she’s strong in handling problems with God as her refuge and strength during the most trying times in her presidency.

I was a student in one of the state university and was very aware of what’s happening in our country when the edsa revolution took place. It was a very historical moment then and from our country’s history you wouldn’t believe the turn of events that happened then. It was a moment that people seems to unite whatever their status in life are. My Mom wouldn’t let me go there of course even if I have some groups to accompany with, I was very young then and I just content myself watching the revolution in television. Now that’s history and no revolution can surpass that one even though they will repeat it.

When her term finally ended I was able to land a job in a company which was luckily given her farewell projects and that’s the flyover projects which gave the company a great break. I served the company for more than a decade and until now we were so happy to be part of her projects. Although her term ended she still managed to be a great source of strength for people who need her especially the leaders that followed after her. She continued her mission and has been a constant source of advices for some leaders. Now that I’ve heard what her family has to say about her I was right in thinking that she’s really a gift to Filipino people and she died with golden memories of her unselfish love to our country, Filipino people and to her family.

Thank you Madame Pres. Cory, you’ll always be in the heart of every Filipino people. You made us proud to be Filipino!

Bargain Holidays for Your Vacation

>> Tuesday, August 4, 2009

When you think of holidays and vacations you always associate it with expensive finances that’s why to some people they think they cannot afford it even if they’ll save for one year. This is the usual dilemma of those who want to relax and enjoy a few days off their routine schedule. Even if they want to have a relaxing vacation they don’t even plan for fear of not having enough budgetary allocation for it. People put their basic budget on the essential necessities first then if there’s a little savings on their monthly income they saved it for whatever they plan to have, be it appliances, properties or spend it on recreations. If there’s no excess or there’s only little left from the salary vacation will have to wait no matter how stressed we are from working hard.

Well not every one knew that there are cheap holidays available with discounted accommodations. Yes, you’ll be amazed that you can have a Majorca holidays at very affordable discount prices. Not all holidays are super expensive, you just have to find and search on the web for the great holiday package. Everybody deserved a break and you can be one of them who can spend a week or more in one of the beautiful destinations you’ve always dreamed for. Now that I have read a lot about this bargain holidays I should also start planning my own now, maybe I’ll have it somewhere along beach resorts or where my SIL is right now so I can also visit her and her kids. Vacation and visitation at the same time!

Being A WAHM

It’s hard to start working on an afternoon schedule. As I’ve worked for several years with mostly morning schedule I feel lazy working after lunch. It’s really easier and I’m more energetic starting at dawn which I’ve tried for two weeks now since I left my office employment. I’m beginning to feel the pressure of what I supposed every working Mom seems to have and that’s proper scheduling of household chores, the usual grocering and marketing, visits to kids’ school, attending school activities, banks, some community works etc. with balance on how you can also do your online tasks.

Hubby takes care of the bills as he’s working inside shopping mall where everything is there. I think it’s easier if I have a helper to do half of these jobs but I prefer (as of now) to really try it myself and see how tough I am lol! Let’s see how long I can handle being a Super Mom hahaha! Forever… I wish!

Care and Protection for our Elders

We love our elders in our homes and they usually the ones who cared for us when we were very young. As for me I still remember our granny who looks after our welfare when Mom is teaching in a nearby primary school and Dad is in his municipal office. Although we have our own nannies to look after our food, clothes and everything our Granny won’t let them take care of us fully. She’s always on our side and asking what we want. I still miss her now even though she passed away several years ago.

Now that my Mom is getting older and needs our care and attention I decided to leave my work so I can look after her and my kids. My decision was a major one but I’m confident that I can still earn my living through online jobs. And talking about our beloved elders we should be aware that as they grow old they need someone who will look after them the whole day. What if we’re working and will be away for 8 hours or more, what is our assurance that they will not fall or how will we know. That’s the time that we need something like Medical Alert, a device which gives our elders complete protection and automatically sends alert on sudden fall. Yes it is a fall detector device, no need to push a button because it sends automatically, isn’t it great? It’s sure to erase our worries when we leave them for a while.

Technology hasn’t been this good and so helpful to me as it is now that I can feel secured that somebody is out there to help them when they fall even if we’re not there all the time to look after them. Glad that I’ve found Medical Alert and how it’s going to ease our worries and fears over our grannies and old parents. Now that I’m a work-at-home devoting my time on my kids and Mom I realized that the most important things we could give to our loved ones are those that can’t be bought by money like love, time, care and attention. They loved and cared for us when we’re young and helpless so we should also look and care for them now that they need us.

They'll Use My Recipe

Got to hurry up now as I'll be assisting Ruth in her cooking class later in the afternoon. I promised her that I'll drop by their school to hand over my digicam or mobile phone cam. This is their first cooking demonstration for this school year and they will be doing spaghetti which I personally cooked and demonstrated to her last Saturday. She took down notes and even if she's not the leader this time (they're having a roundup of leaders every cooking session) she'll be teaching her group how to cook spaghetti ala mommy - that's me of course :-). She's a big fan of my spaghetti and she told me they'll be using my recipe. Actually to my happiness at what she had told me I made her add a half kilo to her original one kilo recipe in case the teachers would ask for more :-). I paid for the added items.
