These are snapshots from last week's SJES celebration of Nutrition week which started with the parade of students with slogans and baskets of nutritional foods. Then they had a program which showcased contest of slogans which I've featured in my other blog. It's the first time that they celebrated Nutrition Week with cooking competition played by PTA officers of all grade levels. Each color represents one grade level from 1 to 6. I just posted 3 groups here. The pink group gets the prize of 1 sack of rice for bagging the 1st prize for their burger patties made of banana heart. I'll feature the menu entries in Food Friday later this week.

They'll Use My Recipe

Got to hurry up now as I'll be assisting Ruth in her cooking class later in the afternoon. I promised her that I'll drop by their school to hand over my digicam or mobile phone cam. This is their first cooking demonstration for this school year and they will be doing spaghetti which I personally cooked and demonstrated to her last Saturday. She took down notes and even if she's not the leader this time (they're having a roundup of leaders every cooking session) she'll be teaching her group how to cook spaghetti ala mommy - that's me of course :-). She's a big fan of my spaghetti and she told me they'll be using my recipe. Actually to my happiness at what she had told me I made her add a half kilo to her original one kilo recipe in case the teachers would ask for more :-). I paid for the added items.

Cost Estimation

For a the last few seasons, CBS has been showing a TV show called Numb3rs. The show's premise is the unimaginitive take off on the family-solving-mysteries storyline that has been around since Scooby Doo and at the earliest the Hardy Boys. Of course, Numbers has some thngs that are different – the boys are employed and older. Don Eppes,the older brother, heads a team of federal agents located in LA – a giant step above the amateur detective ways of the Hardy boys. Charlie Eppes is a certified math genius and teaches as a professor at the made-up university of Cal Sci.

Each week, Don and his street-savvy FBI team encounter a problem, usually a time sensitive one, which is just too tough to figure out through traditional police work. Like clockwork, Professor Charlie Eppes and his team of socially-awkward yet brilliant mathematicians are able to use some form of advanced mathematics to accomplish a whole list of things from predicting where a kidnapping will happen next to the contents of boxes.

And while a great deal of that is Hollywood magic, taking lab theory and shoehorning it into unrealistic time periods with even less realistic amounts of data, there is one part of the show that I always admire. During the hour-long show, the young Professor Eppes must give an explanation to a complex, doctoral-level mathematical system in a way that a team of federal agents can understand. This happens every single episode with such predictability that the character in the show have started to expect it, even making jokes and attempting to give their own explanations.

Charlie’s explanations are definitely a way to move the story forward and also to convince the television viewers that his genius mathematical insights aren’t simply a weekly deus ex machine. However, just as Charlie has to explain how his math models the real world, the use of software estimation can often seem just as improbable. True, you can sit back and say “Well, the program relies on parametric modeling of our current situation,” but that look is far more likely to generate blank stares than anything else.

Church' New Venue

It's our final day in 15th Ave. church where we spent more than five years of Sunday fellowship services. The caretaker of the building we're staying informed us last June of this year that the bank who owns the building will now use it and we have to look for another place to held our Sunday service. With God's provision we've found Muñoz and Kamias place, we later chosen the latter because of the place' proximity. It's only two thirds of the former place we had but we managed to arrange it as well.

We just realized later that one office in the same floor we've reserved in ML Building has an office works during Sunday. We just hope that they will not be disturbed by the instruments' sound or we'll have problem with it. Anyway I know God has a purpose for everything that happens in our lives and if we'll have a problem about the office being disturbed I know God will transfer us to a better place. He'll be with us wherever we go.

Personalized Jump Drive

I remember few years ago when I used to save my files on diskettes, one problem about diskette is that you can only save up to 1MB plus. Great that CD’s and DVD’s were launched to market which enables the user to save up to 700MB in CD or more in DVD. Even though you can save bulk file in compact disk you have to burn files to store multiple and big capacity files and you have to have a writer in order to do that.

Now modern technology has the capacity of having the convenience of diskettes wherein you can save file immediately and more than the capacity of compact disks in one very useful tool called flash drive which offers big storage for your documents, files, pictures and videos. You can actually store movies in it. It’s very useful and trendy too as almost every PC user has it. I for one have two flash drives in my bag always. As a blogger and a novice photographer I want my current files and pictures with me wherever I go so I store them on my usb drive.

But sometimes the problem with it is if you have the same brand and color with others there’s a possibility of mixed up drives so I want a Personalized Jump Drive for me to prevent that thing. Yes it’s now available in the market and even online. I just browsed a site that offers one. There are varieties when it comes to colors and material, you know some user s want wood, others like it in metal case and many others. You’ll be satisfied with their available colors and materials. I want a leather case for my own Personalized Flash Drive with just my nickname on it. That would be elegant to look at and beautiful also, perfect for my leather organizer.

:Food Friday - Sliced Cakes

These lovely colored cakes caught my Josh' attention while we're visiting the new bakery around the corner. The new bakery has about more than a dozen of cake varieties ranging from mocca, marble, choco, ube and many other flavors. Of course I love choco but Josh like marble so we decided to buy the two plus another choco cake which has a choco filling in between for my Mom. Well from the looks of it esp. the icing you would mistake this cake as over sweet but when we tasted it it's not so sweet but very yummy! The taste is not the usual taste of cakes bought from normal bakery within the areas. Actually it can compete the taste of 'G' especially their round cake ala Oreo inspired cake which costs around P200 only. Anyway we promised ourselves to round up their array of baked goodies aside from cakes. Btw the sliced cakes price range is P12-P15 only, isn't it competitive?
