:Food Friday - Kinilaw na Bangus

>> Friday, February 5, 2010

I'd like to share what we had last January 1 when we had our swimming in Pansol, Calamba, Laguna. The ministers contributed for two dishes for their lunch together and this is one of the two recipes. My Mom don't do this almost raw food in our house but I really like it so I watched while one of my co-sisters in the church do this Kilawing Bangus (Raw Milkfish cooked in vinegar for my English readers).

To have this (1) you need milkfish fillet cut into cubes and soaked in vinegar to cook the meat no need to put fire just set aside. Then (2) mix small cuts of ginger, tomatoes, onions, garlic, pinch of sat, dash of pepper, small chili pepper (optional) and MSG (optional). After the milkfish turned pale from soaking in vinegar it's considered as cooked already and you can mix it with the spices' mixture done in step 2. Pour vinegar to the final mixture, taste it for additional salt or vinegar then it's all ready for picnic lol!

Have done it myself in our home and will post my own version of this with salted eggs!

New Career Path in Business

My cousin resigned from her job in the city and decided to put up a small business in our hometown province. She’s a licensed engineer and very dedicated to her profession but she suddenly longed for a different career path close to her family. She was living with us in one of our upper rooms for the last several years and she only comes home twice a month. She’s been with her employer for so many years but when the company changed management she decided not to continue with the new one. She has many plans for her career but decided to start a small meat products’ business while waiting for her plans to materialize.

When she finally arranged her early retirement she search for moving company that accepts long distance travel like
cross country movers to help her transfer her appliances, documents and all her things from our place to their house in the province. It was her friends in the province that finally helped her arrange and transfer all her belongings. Now she’s settled in her hometown with her family and with a booming business that she’s managing very well.

RT/WW : The Eldest & the Youngest

Wordless Wednesday

This was a shot of my eldest Ruth and my little boy Josh exactly four years ago on their way to my brother's daughter 7th birthday. Ruth was just a little 8-year old girl then while Josh was barely 2 years old. These two kids of mine have a habit of teasing each other up to the point that one will cry in the end. Actually the eldest will tease the youngest up to the point that he'll cry and go to my side then she'll stop. Then after that they will play as if nothing happened. They're a handful sometimes. The middle kid Gen has a more matured attitude and she pampers Josh to the max! I love their smiles here, sweet!!!

New Flooring for Our House

>> Saturday, January 30, 2010

My sister and I were talking about our renovation plans in the house which we started last year. We finished two projects and while she’s taken over the finishing grills of our gate I decided to take charge of the garden which I’m very fond of doing. The place was intended for my meat products shop but since I don’t have time to start a small business yet I’m going to turn the place into a small garden with Bermuda or Carabao grass.

I have plenty of garden ideas now since I’ve consulted my brother-in-law who knows a lot about garden landscaping. Back to our renovation plans we decided to prioritize our tile flooring after our present project because our vinyl flooring suffered damages after the flood. That flooring has served us for several years already and it’s about time to replace it with new tiles. Our house is a bit spacious and that means big budget to cover for the new tiles. Well no worries as we still have several months before we implement this one.

:Food Friday - Lumpia Veggies with Tofu

>> Friday, January 29, 2010

It's veggies and fish these past two weeks to make up for the holidays' meaty fiesta :-) I cooked this Lumpiang Gulay with breaded tofu as toppings. It's good to combine tofu with veggies because you're sure that you don't have any meat on your food, that is if you really want your diet to be pure veggies and fish only. Oh well it's one of my favorite food. This one is served with peanut sauce but I've added the pure ground peanut in this veggie mixture so no need to make peanut sauce as this one is so healthy yummy already! I didn't add any coloring (the reason why it's pale)

High Performance Aircrew Helmets

>> Thursday, January 28, 2010

I heard the news yesterday night that the PAF Nomad plane has crashed on some houses in subdivision in Cotabato City causing death among the passengers, pilots and crew of the said plane. It also caused fire and great damages on the properties where the plane accidentally landed. It’s rather tragic to hear that news as many of that Nomad plane has suffered the same fate in the past years. Now flying of the Nomad plane was suspended until investigations were over. As for me I wouldn’t ride anymore on that Nomad plane as it’s already proven from the numerous accidents suffered by the plane that it’s not safe anymore. That’s only my opinion. I don’t usually write things like this one but I pity the families of those passengers especially their kids. It must be so sad for them.

Our government should look into the planes we are purchasing from other countries as maybe some of them are not perfect in performance. Well I’m not in a position to talk about this but I’m just concerned. Speaking of performance I happened to surf some high performance aircrew Helmets New U.S. Military which even from the looks only you can tell its high quality and advanced design. I wonder if our government could provide some of it to our own Air Force staff. I’m just wondering of course as I’m just awed by its features and qualities and dreaming that our own air force would have advanced technology gadgets.

RT/WW : Robin with Princess

>> Tuesday, January 26, 2010

Wordless Wednesday
This is what Robin (Josh in Robin's costume) is doing these days., talking and playing to Princess. He's so fond of our little Princess even if the baby sometimes pinch him everywhere. Josh doesn't mind because he says she's just a baby :-). She's my niece' 7-month old baby and been a constant delight to see her smiling, laughing, crying and playing in our compound. She's such a cutie baby and growing so prettily. She also loves to see Josh that when Josh approach her she will immediately smile. I told Josh that his face is funny lol :-)

Looking for Project Software

I’ve recently talked to my former office mate and she’s now employed in a different company that relies mainly on automated system on all departments and aspects of their works. Since their system is so efficient there are no reasons to make a lot of mistakes and works are expected to be perfect.

Her only problem is that of handling a new project that’s not included in the current system they have. She didn’t want to be so demanding on the company to have bigger funds for her project but she wanted software that will run it efficiently. I told her to try project management software because it will not be as expensive as other system software. She’s thinking about my advice and probably will try this new suggestion of mine. Anyway she really needs some piece of advice from me since we’ve worked hand in hand with big projects years ago.
