Home Owner Insurance

>> Tuesday, November 4, 2008

With my busy life having a full-time office job and part-time online job I often do all searching, canvassing and getting quotation online. It’s very convenient for me and I realized that I can get affordable deals doing all of these over the internet. I even find variety of choices like when I look for a good home owner insurance for my SIL’s newly-built house. I searched and compared quotes from different insurance companies and was very happy to get fast results.

Getting insurance now is not that time-consuming unlike in the past years when you spend long hours on the phone to get information and quotation. All you have to do is fill out some online insurance forms and you’ll get your much needed information on how and where to get the best insurance.

Others want their carefully planned and secured that’s why they get themselves term life insurance. In this way they feel that no matter what happens to them they will be insured for life. Remembering Our Dead Loved Ones

Today the whole country is celebrating All Saints Day which is commonly called as ‘Undas’ or Day of the Dead People. People would commonly buy candles and flowers and bring it to cemetery to pay respect and visit the tomb of their dead loved ones. Some bring plenty of food somewhat like a feast because the whole clan will be there to eat, drink and reunite.

This is the common tradition of Filipinos, I remember when I was a child I would see the oldies pray hard as they lit candles and offer flowers. Now when you go to cemeteries you’ll wonder at some people (not all) who celebrate this season with deafening sound system, teenagers who seem like dating only and people who care only for making their cemetery place as beautiful as their houses. I still see some old people who observe this occasion with praying but they’re very few.

It makes me wonder the true purpose of this occasion. My father died on March 1997 and when we visit his grave we only bring flowers and prayers for him. I believe that simple flowers and prayers are enough because when he was still with us we lavished him with all the love and attention to the best that we can give him. He suffered stroke in 1981 and since then my Mom has been our sole provider because we didn’t want him to work again to prevent stroke occurrence. Even if we have only enough money to sustain us we provided him with everything he needs especially when we finally had a job. He was treated with special love, attention and care up to his last breathing moment.

It’s alright to spend money on expensive candles and flowers as long as we also gave that same care and attention when they were still living with us. We should always give the best of our love to our family, give them flowers on special occasions and care for them deeply because if they die no amount of beautiful flowers can compensate for our shortcomings. Just a reminder!

Maintaining Our Homes

Proper maintenance should be learned when running a household. All areas and corners of the house must be kept in good order and condition to prevent house appliances, equipment and all house accessories from wear and tear. One very important thing to do is to check them regularly and list all things that need immediate attention. Some of the things that needs regular checkup are doors, windows, bathroom and kitchen’s faucet, electrical outlets, cupboards and many others. After all home is where we rest our mind and body from daily challenges of life so it’s better if we keep it maintained at all times.

Ruth’s First Fruit Salad

>> Friday, October 31, 2008

Since it’s a holiday tomorrow I bought some food for the occasion, since my kids love pandesal I bought a bag full of pugon-baked goodies from Pan de Manila, I’ve picked the biggest size and some wheat type for me. For our lunch tomorrow I’ve only bought chicken because it’s their favorite together with barbeque which I intend to buy from the neighborhood barbeque house. For dessert I’ve picked some canned goods and creams for fruit salad. We all love salad from my Mom to my youngest Josh who has a taste for everything delicious meaning he has a big appetite!

I was relaxing myself watching television when Ruth volunteered to do the salad and since it’s a mix-everything-up recipe I let her do it with just basic instructions from me. She took after my flair in cooking and mixing food and little by little as she grows older she wants to try something new always. After mixing the salad she let me and her granny taste it then after our meticulous judgment (lol) she perfected the taste of her first ever fruit salad. We nearly ate one third of the mixture before she stored it in the freezer, yes she’s done it perfectly!

Home Shopping

>> Thursday, October 30, 2008

It’s nice to watch Howie Mandel’s video on promoting buy.com online shopping. It’s really amazing to see fast delivery of ordered items through home shopping. This kind of advertising is really great and I’m sure it will hit the market. Their style in promoting products and home shopping will boost the sale of all the products that they will endorse. It’s good to know we now have this kind of home shopping. It’s fantastic!

Beautiful Faucets

We were having a lunch break and washing our hands in our office lavatory when I noticed a very small leak in the faucet. As usual I must report it to our maintenance to see the faucet at once to prevent major repairs. Since the person who will do the checkup will reach the office in more than 20 minutes I started checking the mentioned faucet. I remember what my brother taught me about checking and fixing bathroom accessories. Sometimes the trouble needs minor repairs only especially if you have a quality well-made items like Delta faucets which is of good quality and beautifully made with anti-tarnish finish. This faucet is made to last for a long time.

Surprise Visit

>> Tuesday, October 28, 2008

I was hurriedly packing my things and food for office when we had a surprise visit from Shela, my niece and first-ever godchild from Famy Laguna. She's very close to me and now that her Mom passed away already I'm one of her adopted guardian because I'm her ninang, tita and also a friend. She was baptized when I'm only 10 years old so that makes us good friends too, too young to be her mom :-).

She's a favorite (hope some of my niece will not be able to read this or else!!! If you know her you'll know the reason why. She's sweet, funny and very thoughtful. When I gave birth to Josh 5 years ago she volunteered to come here in our house all the way from Laguna to be there for me when I arrived from the hospital. She assisted me for almost a month in her little own ways to make me feel comfortable. I have a helper then but in our house babies were cared for by my Mom and close family relative. My mom wouldn't allow my helper to take care of my kids. Helpers were just there to do household chores.

Anyway as I left for the office my girls entertained their Ate Shela by showing her photos in my pc and they read my blogs. I just talked to them online when I arrived at my work. Shela and her companion Tita Ilyang (my uncle' sister-in-law) arranged some papers here with my Mom's help and went home before 5pm.
